    Duca to Rutgers

Joe Duca, who will be a senior at Paulsboro High School in New Jersey, has informed InterMat that he has given a verbal commitment to Rutgers.

Duca is a two-time New Jersey state placewinner and is ranked as InterMat's No. 88 senior recruit in the country. In 2008, Duca compiled a 39-3 record and placed fourth at 112 pounds. This past season, Duca was 42-1, with his only loss coming in the state finals at 119 pounds to Vinnie DelleFave of Toms River East, 3-2, in four overtimes. He has a career record of 114-14.

"I'm comfortable with the coaching staff at Rutgers,” Duca told InterMat. "I want to stay in Jersey, too."

Duca is a projected 125/133-pounder in college.

Duca's father, Joe Sr., was a state champion in 1979 for Paulsboro, which is what Joe has his sights set on for his senior season.

"I want a win a state title and then a High School Senior Nationals title," said Duca, who plans to compete at 125 pounds for his senior season.
