Recent Recruiting Update (10/2/2026)

Recruiting news has continued to pick up over the last week! 10 Big Boarders announced commitments, including one flip, and a handful of other quality recruits. A couple of these programs are making their case for inclusion in the 2027 recruiting rankings. Here’s more information about the last week or so in recruiting: Indiana #54 Noah Tucker (Bullis School, MD) #113 Peyton Hornsby (Center Grove, IN) #149 Will Glesing (New Palestine, IN) Aidan Kincaide (Noblesville, IN) The biggest impact from the last week of recruiting came from Indiana, which received four verbals - three from ranked wrestlers. Three came from in-state recruits. Prior to this surge, we had not been aware of any commitments from 2027 to the Hoosier team. Just like that, Indiana has an impressive. The highest-ranked of the bunch is Noah Tucker of Maryland. This offseason, Tucker won NHSCA Junior Nationals and placed at the Junior level in both styles in Fargo. At #54 in the Class of 2027, Tucker was one of the highest-ranked recruits still on the open market. Tucker is currently ranked #10 in the nation at 175 lbs. Before committing to Indiana, Tucker also took visits to Princeton and Virginia. Peyton Hornsby is currently ranked #113 on the Big Board, but Willie Saylor has assured us that Hornsby will rise significantly in the next update. That makes sense, as Hornsby was third in Junior freestyle at 150 lbs in Fargo. Last year, he was a U16 champion at 144 lbs. Hornsby is a two-time Indiana state runner-up and ranked fifth in the nation at 150 lbs. He visited Pittsburgh and Purdue before committing to the Hoosiers. Heavyweight Will Glesing is currently eighth in the nation and #149 among seniors. Glesing had his best national showing to date, when he was eighth in Junior freestyle in Fargo. He was third at the Indiana state tournament in 2026 and eighth in 2025. Before his verbal, Glesing also took a visit to Bellarmine. The final recruit of this surge is two-time Indiana state medalist Aidan Kincaide. Kincaide was a state runner-up at 165 lbs as a junior. He took a trip to Kent State, before committing to Indiana. Iowa State #55 Vinnie Gutierrez (Fountain Valley, CA) #122 Austin Ellis (Davis, UT) An already-impressive Iowa State recruiting class got significantly better with recent commitments from a pair of ranked wrestlers, Vinnie Gutierrez and Austin Ellis. Gutierrez had previously committed to Oregon State, but has since changed his mind and flipped to the Cyclones. Gutierrez was a California state third-place finisher at 138 lbs in 2026. It was his second time placing at the CIF state tournament; he placed fifth as a sophomore. During the 2025-26 regular season, Gutierrez was fourth at the Doc Buchanan. On the national scene, Gutierrez was third at NHSCA Sophomore Nationals. He is currently ranked #14 in the nation at 138 lbs. Utah state champion Austin Ellis also committed to the Cyclones, giving them six Big Boarders in their current Class of 2027 (five in the top 100). Ellis is a five-time Fargo All-American. He most recently finished seventh at 138 lbs in Junior freestyle. Earlier this year, Ellis was an NHSCA Junior National runner-up. Before settling on Iowa State, Gutierrez also visited Little Rock and Virginia. Here’s a look at Iowa State’s current Class of 2027 Michigan State #146 Caden Krueger (Detroit Catholic Central, MI) Michigan State added a Big Boarder from in-state power Detroit Catholic Central with the commitment of Caden Krueger. In 2026, Krueger won his first Michigan DI state title at 190 lbs. Last summer, Krueger made the 16U freestyle finals in Fargo. At this time, Krueger is not in the national rankings, but he did spend most of the summer in the top 20. Before his commitment to Michigan State, Krueger took visits to Central Michigan, Grand Valley State, Indiana, and Kent State. Here is what Michigan State’s Class of 2027 looks like with Krueger’s addition. North Dakota State #143 Landen McDowell (St. Pius X, MO) Isaiah Olabode (Prior Lake, MN) North Dakota State’s recruiting class grew by two wrestlers in the past week or so. Landen McDowell is currently ranked ninth in the nation at 165 lbs and is among the top 150 in this senior class. McDowell finished third in Missouri’s Class 4 state tournament as a junior. A few weeks later, McDowell took third at NHSCA Junior Nationals. In Fargo this summer, McDowell did not place but won six matches in Junior freestyle. The second recruit for Obe Blanc’s team is Isaiah Olabode of Prior Lake, Minnesota. Olabode was fourth in Minnesota’s Section 2 tournament in 2026 at 215 lbs. This is North Dakota State’s current Class of 2027 Oklahoma #120 Cayden Rios (Allen, TX) Oklahoma gained its fourth Big Boarder from the Class of 2027 with a verbal from Cayden Rios. Rios is a two-time Texas 6A state champion and he has placed in the top three at the NHSCA grade-level tournament after each high school season. He committed to Oklahoma after taking visits to Little Rock, Northwestern, and Virginia. Oklahoma’s current Class of 2027 looks like this Purdue #138 Bill Fullhart (Decorah, IA) Purdue added to their strong recruiting class with a fifth member of the 2027 Big Board and the fourth in the top 150. Fullhart is a two-time Iowa state medalist. He took third as a sophomore and was a 2A state runner-up in 2026 at 165 lbs. On the national level, Fullhart was a sixth-place finisher at 16U freestyle nationals in 2025 and was also sixth at the UWW U17 Trials in the spring of 2026. Yes, Fullhart is the son of Iowa’s 1997 national champion Lee Fullhart, who was a teammate of Purdue head coach Tony Ersland. The younger Fullhart did take a visit to his father’s alma mater before committing to Purdue. Here is an updated list of Purdue’s current Class of 2027 SIU Edwardsville #168 Cael Humphrey (Sultana, CA) They continue to get it done on the recruiting trail. SIU Edwardsville now has commitments from three Big Boarders in this senior class. Humphrey was a sixth-place finisher in California’s one-class system in 2026. He was also eighth as a sophomore. During the regular season, Humphrey took sixth place at California’s Doc Buchanan Invitational. In the summer of 2025, Humphrey finished third in Greco-Roman at the 16U National Championships in Fargo. With Humphrey’s addition, the SIU Edwardsville looks like this Northern Illinois Noah Nicholson (Stillwater, MN) Minnesota state champion Noah Nicholson recently committed to the Northern Illinois wrestling team. Nicholson was a 2026 Minnesota AAA state champion at 127 lbs. He is a three-time state medalist, finishing third as a sophomore and fourth as a freshman. Northern Illinois now has two verbal commitments from high-profile nearby states in their Class of 2027.
