One of the growing trends in college athletics has been the proliferation of giving a verbal commitment (or signing) to one school and having a change of heart before signing with another - aka "flipping." We tracked this phenomenon with the Class of 2025 and at the beginning of January noted that 18 members of the Big Board had flipped commitments. As of late September, the Class of 2026 already had 11 who have flipped and committed to a second school.
Now, revisiting this list, it has almost tripled and we have a total of 30 (up from 24 in our December update) members of the Class of 2026 Big Board who have flipped. Additionally, four wrestlers who were on a previous version of the Big Board flipped, as well. There are two others who are currently on the Big Board and have re-opened the recruiting process - plus we didn't factor in additional recruits from California Baptist.
Remember, everyone has reasons for flipping. We’re not making judgements, just pointing out trends.
Below are the wrestlers currently on the Big Board who have flipped from the Class of 2026.
#2 Bo Bassett (Bishop McCort, PA)
Originally committed to: Iowa
Now committed to: Virginia Tech
