2026 Senior Greco-Roman Team Determined in Las Vegas

The week of action in Las Vegas provided us with plenty of action at various age groups and styles. One of the unique tournaments of the week was the Senior Greco-Roman World Team Trials. Men’s and women’s freestyle winners at the US Open clinched a spot in Final X and the opportunity to wrestle a best-of-three series for a berth on the 2026 world team. Greco’s procedures are different and use the US Open as a trials and their team was determined over the weekend.

The 2026 Senior Greco-Roman team is a mix of savvy veterans and high-potential young stars. Kamal Bey, up at a new weight class (82 kg), leads the way with his sixth World/Olympic team and fourth straight. Cohlton Schultz is now a five-time Senior World Team member. Max Nowry has made his fourth World Team and Dalton Roberts his fourth World/Olympic squad.

At the same time, Joel Adams and Otto Black have broken through to make their first Senior teams. Both wrestlers have made U20 world finals during their young careers. Adams was a world champion in 2022 and Black took home silver in 2024.

Veteran Timothy Young won a three-match series at 97 kg to make his first Senior World Team.

Xavier Johnson, Benji Peak, and Beka Melelashvili all made the Senior World Team for a second time.

Hopefully, this mix of youth and experience will lead to world medals this summer, as the United States was shut out in Greco at the 2025 World Championships.
