    Wrestling 49: Ohio

With the high school wrestling season's start nearing, InterMat is taking readers across the United States of America on a tour of scholastic wrestling. From mid-August until mid-November, InterMat is introducing readers to the top high school senior wrestlers in the 49 states with scholastic wrestling.

In this installment, Dan Ransick looks at the top senior wrestlers in Ohio.

The class of 2013 wrestlers for Ohio is led by two potential four-time state champions. However there is a clear No. 1 in this class.

    1. Micah Jordan (St. Paris Graham)
Projected 2013-14 High School Weight Class: 145
    Projected College Weight Class: 149/157

Analysis: Micah Jordan is the clear No. 1 wrestler in this year's class of wrestlers coming from Ohio. He has held this spot since freshman year and won't relinquish it out. Jordan the nation's No. 7 ranked recruit according to InterMat. Jordan will be going for his fourth state title this year but will look for his first Ironman title. Last year Jordan fell to Cadet World champion Aaron Pico in the finals after upending then-No. 1 Dean Heil of St. Edwards in the semifinals. Jordan will look to add to the family legacy of state titles bringing it to 12 between him, his dad, and brother at the end of the year.

    2. Jacob Danishek (Dayton Christian)
Projected 2013-14 High School Weight Class: 152
    Projected College Weight Class: 157

Analysis: Danishek will be going for his fourth state title next year. Danishek had a break out year nationally last year placing second at Ironman at 145. He followed that momentum up winning at the Brecksville Holiday tournament. Danishek was unchallenged in DIII last year and I would expect the same as many people clear out of his weight to avoid him. Danishek, the No. 21 recruit in the nation, will be wrestling for Indiana next year.

    3. Chalmer Frueauf (Cincinnati Moeller)
Projected 2013-14 High School Weight Class: 220/285
    Projected College Weight Class: 285

Analysis: Frueauf last year reached the top of the podium after placing fourth two times. Last year Frueauf lost only to FILA Junior World champion Kyle Snyder at POWERade. The weight he ends up depends on how far Moeller's football team will go into the state playoffs. Frueauf would be an overwhelming favorite at 220 pounds again this year.

    4. Ryan Harris (Beachwood)
Projected 2013-14 High School Weight Class: 170
    Projected College Weight Class: 174

Analysis: Ryan Harris will look to cap off his high school career with another state title. Last year he won his first state title at 160 pounds, capping an undefeated season after placing third and seventh the previous years. This year he will move up to 170 pounds. Harris has committed to Ohio State and projects as a 174-pounder in college.

    5. Dakota Sizemore (Cincinnati Moeller)
Projected 2013-14 High School Weight Class: 160
    Projected College Weight Class: 174

Analysis: Last year Sizemore broke through by winning the 160-pound state title in Division I. He was third the year before. Sizemore had an impressive POWERade tournament as well, taking third in the 170-pound weight class, only losing to No. 1-ranked recruit Chance Marsteller. Sizemore will look to be one of the anchors for Moeller's talent-laden team this year before going to wrestle for the Ohio Bobcats.

    6. Travis Linton (Rootstown)
Projected 2013-14 High School Weight Class: 170
    Projected College Weight Class: 174

Analysis: Linton, a two-time state placer, won the DIII title at 170 pounds to capture his first state title in a narrow 3-2 decision. Last year Linton had a great year, placing seventh at Ironman, along with winning the state title. This year, if back at 170 pounds, he will have to face Ryan Harris of Beachwood in what could be one of the premier matchups in the DIII field at the state tournament. Linton has committed to wrestle for Division II Notre Dame College.

    7. Tony Dailey (Massillon Perry)
Projected 2013-14 High School Weight Class: 160
    Projected College Weight Class: 165

Analysis: Dailey, while only a one-time state placer, has shown much potential with placing at Ironman, Medina and winning at Walsh. Dailey didn't have the best state tournament, placing fifth, but he did run into Markus Scheidel, a Junior National freestyle champion this past summer. I expect to Dailey to have a big year at 160 pounds.

    8. Kyle Conel (Ashtabula Lakeside)
Projected 2013-14 High School Weight Class: 195
    Projected College Weight Class: 197

Analysis: Last year Conel took a perfect 46-0 record into the state finals only to fall to an opponent he beat the week before. This year Conel will look to atone that lone loss and win his first state title. He projects at 195 pounds again this year. However, he will have to contend with state placer and freestyle All-American Josh Murphy in order to win another state title.

    9. Aaron Adkins (Akron St. Vincent St. Mary)
Projected 2013-14 High School Weight Class: 182
    Projected College Weight Class: 184

Analysis: Adkins made quick work of his opponent last year in the state finals, getting a pin in just over a minute. However, the road to the state finals wasn't as smooth, as he battled outstanding freshman Jack Harris in the semifinals to make it there. If Adkins is to win another state title he will have to get past Harris again.

    10. Josh Murphy (Brecksville-Broadview Heights)
Projected 2013-14 High School Weight Class: 195
    Projected College Weight Class: 197

Analysis: Murphy had a great summer, taking eighth at 195 pounds in the Junior National freestyle competition in Fargo. Murphy, while only a one-time state placer, should be able to make a deep run at the state tournament this year, building off what was a solid summer.
