The 2026 Offseason Coaching Carousel (5/27/2026)

Last week, we learned that the final DI head-coaching vacancy of this offseason would be filled by Timmy McCall. McCall will lead The Citadel in 2026-27 and beyond. As he moved to Charleston, a vacancy opened on the Utah Valley staff - an up-and-coming program.

Yesterday, there was also more information on the assistant coaching front. Brown University announced that Ty Walz has left its coaching staff, opening up another position.

This is why we call it the coaching carousel. It’s a game of musical chairs that generally goes on for the entire offseason. One opening generally creates another as the first one gets filled.

As you can see from some of the openings below, there are some high-profile jobs available, so those might create some more opportunities in the near future.

We’ll update this feature regularly throughout the spring and summer (and potentially fall) as more positions are filling and others come open.
