The 2026 Offseason Coaching Carousel (4/8/2026)

The bulk of the headlines from the last eight days have revolved around the transfer portal and who’s in and who’s heading where. In this new era of college athletics, it has become a staple of the offseason. Another regular offseason topic, one that has been around pre-transfer portal, is the coaching carousel.

The coaching carousel is a game of musical chairs that generally goes on for the entire offseason. One opening generally creates another as the first one gets filled.

As you can see from some of the openings below, there are some high-profile jobs available, so those might create some more opportunities in the near future. A couple of these were made public for the first time yesterday, so it seemed like the appropriate time to debut the 2026 offseason coaching carousel.

We’ll update this feature regularly throughout the spring and summer (and potentially fall) as more positions are filling and others come open.
