Angelo Amenta evened the team scoring in the 133-pound bout after a 10-7 decision over Jacob Nicholson. Joe Moita made it a 6-3 lead for the Lions, knocking off Dylan Caruana, 6-2, at 141.
After Markus Scheidel and Tyrel White both gave Columbia bonus points with major decisions, Binghamton mounted a comeback. Trailing 14-7, the Bearcats won the next three matches, including a major decision of their own at 197, to take a 17-14 match lead.
Ryan had a large task at hand, not only needing a decision, but also needing bonus points to seal a match victory for the Lions. With a 6-1 lead and time ticking down in the final period, Ryan got a takedown and added a point on riding time, giving the Lions a one point team win in front of a roaring crowd.
With the win, Columbia is now 4-1 on the season in duals with one more remaining this weekend against Brown, tomorrow at 1 pm on the Ivy League Digital Network.
