"We're excited about the opportunity to wrestle a great team and this will be a great challenge," head coach Jack Spates said.
The Cowboys defeated the Sooners earlier this season in Norman in round one of Bedlam, 17-15. The two teams split the 10 matches but OSU was sparked by two major decisions by Coleman Scott at 133-pounds and Nathan Morgan at 141-pounds. Jared Rosholt recorded a decision at heavyweight to give the rival Cowboys a two point victory.
The Cowboys lead the all-time series against the rival Sooners holding a 122-24-9 advantage. The Cowboys have won the last 17 meetings in the series dating back to a tie on Nov. 30, 1999. OSU is unbeaten in the last 25 duals, with Oklahoma's last victory coming in the 1995-96 season. Jack Spates is 1-24-2 all-time against Oklahoma State.
"I feel like our team is coming around in terms of wrestling and we are making a lot of progress at the right time of the year," Spates continued.
Oklahoma's last victory over Oklahoma State was a 19-18 victory, on Nov. 28, 1995 in Stillwater.
Oklahoma State comes into Bedlam on a down note. Missouri defeated the Cowboys 17-16 on Super Bowl Sunday in Stillwater.
"The key to tomorrow's match will be us not giving up extra points because that is where we got be last time and we need to find a way to replace not having Sam Hazewinkel in the lineup," Spates said.
The Sooners next host Hofstra on Saturday, Feb. 17, at 7 p.m. inside the Howard McCasland Field House. The dual will also be the last home meet for Oklahoma seniors Sam Hazewinkel and Matt Storniolo.
