Starting off the dual with a 6-1 win, No. 19 Michael McGee put three points on the board for the Monarchs. Earning his first dual win of the season, Killian Cardinale came back from trailing 6-5 at the end of the second period. In the final frame, the redshirt freshman earned near fall points to earn a 10-5 win at 133 pounds.
MAC Wrestler of the Week No. 11 Sa'Derian Perry pinned his opponent in the first period to collect his second-straight. At 149 pounds, Kevin Budock earned bonus points for the Monarchs with an 11-3 win over Kody Kamara. No. 5 Larry Early followed Budock with another win in the bonus after an 18-2 technical fall.
At 165 pounds, Shane Jones fell to Isaac Bast by pin. Seldon Wright battled to a 3-2 win by decision to extend the ODU lead.
Dean Drugac dropped his bout at 184 pounds by major decision. At 197, Tim Young worked to a 9-8 decision to move to 4-2 this season in duals.
At heavyweight, Ali Wahab closed the dual with an 8-2 win over Spencer Berthold.
About Virginia Tech
The Hokies defeated Chattanooga 35-4 on Friday morning. They are currently 3-2 this season with wins over Princeton and West Virginia. The Monarchs and Hokies meet for the 40th time on Saturday. ODU owns a 21-19-0 record.
