Cody Pfau and Carla Ponce provided the Stars pins to key the victory. Third-ranked OCU improved to 7-1, while fourth-rated Wayland Baptist dipped to 5-4.
Pfau, a freshman from Parachute, Colo., stuck Michele Guerrero to put the Stars ahead 12-1 in a matchup of top 10-rated individuals at 109 pounds. Pfau is ranked third, while Guerrero entered ranked ninth.
Ponce, a freshman from El Paso, Texas, upended Tamyra Mensah by fall. Mensah is rated fifth at 130. OCU led 26-2 after Ponce's victory.
Emily Webster posted a 10-0 technical fall over Vanessa Smith to put the Stars up 7-1. Webster, a junior from Sedalia, Mo., is the top-ranked 101-pounder in the WCWA, while Smith was No. 4.
OCU's Kristi Garr also won by technical fall 17-6 over Lauryn Bruggink at 116 pounds. Garr, a senior from Goodrich, Mich., sits No. 2 in the 109-pound rankings.
Stephanie Geltmacher provided OCU with its final win of the dual. Geltmacher, a senior from Kahaluui, Hawaii, defeated Valerie Rosales in a matchup of top five-ranked wrestlers at 155 pounds. Geltmacher is second, while Rosales is fifth in the ratings.
Heather O'Connor started the Stars off with a win at 191 pounds. O'Connor, ranked fourth at 191, knocked off third-ranked Angela Vyborny.
Wayland Baptist's top-ranked 143-pounder, Tamrya Mensah, beat ninth-ranked Kayla Aggio. Samantha Villegas, ranked second at 136, prevailed over ninth-ranked Natalia Hinojo.
OCU meets sixth-ranked Missouri Baptist at noon Wednesday, Nov. 27 at Abe Lemons Arena.
