    No. 20 McKendree posts win over No. 18 Indianapolis

    LEBANON, Ill. -- The No. 20 McKendree University wrestling team defeated No. 18 University of Indianapolis, 28-18, in a dual match on Tuesday night.

    The Bearcats improve to 7-7 overall and will travel to St. Louis, Mo., on Sunday, Feb. 15 to compete at the Maryville University Duals.

    McKendree opened up the dual with a forfeit win by junior Coltyn Pease (Pittsfield, Ill., Pittsfield) at heavyweight, but lost by fall at 125 pounds to tie the match 6-6. Sophomore NaQuan Hardy (Romeoville, Ill., Romeoville) pinned Joe Kieffer in 3:57 at 133 pounds to put the Bearcats back in front, 12-6, and sophomore Darren Wynn (Champaign, Ill., Centennial) followed with a 12-1 major decision win over Evan Smiley at 141 pounds to extend the lead out to 16-6. Sophomore Mech Spraggins Jr. (Belleville, Ill., Belleville West High School) edged Neal Molloy, 6-4, in sudden victory to push the lead out to 19-6, but the Greyhounds cut the deficit to 19-9 with a decision win at 157 pounds. Freshman Qian'te Wagner (Alton, Ill., Alton) earned a 21-6 tech fall win over Clayton Monebrake at 165 pounds, and sophomore J.J. Filipek (Warrenton, Mo., Warrenton) followed with a 14-5 major decision over Jordan Collins to take a 28-9 lead. Indianapolis won the final two matches to cut the score to 28-18.
