Hired by former Athletic Director Paul Giel prior to the 1986-87 season, Robinson replaced the legendary Wally Johnson who spent 34 years as head coach of the Golden Gophers. In his tenure, Robinson has led Minnesota to a pair of NCAA Championships and four Big Ten titles. This past summer, he was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Nagel came to the University after a prep career, which saw him win a record five state titles at Frazee High School. Nagel redshirt his first year as Minnesota claimed its second straight national title in 2002. Four years later, he is now a senior captain on the nation's number-one ranked team. An All-American a year ago, Nagel is currently ranked ninth in the nation with a 23-6 record at 165 pounds.
Minnesota will look to finish its home schedule unbeaten for the fifth time in Robinson's tenure. Friday's match against the Badgers will begin at 7 p.m., while Sunday's dual against the Hoosiers will begin at 2 p.m.
