    Lehigh rolls past Army, Rutgers

BETHLEHEM, Pa. –- No. 24 Lehigh improved to 7-1 in EIWA duals with a pair of convincing victories against conference foes Saturday inside Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall. The Mountain Hawks won a combined 15 out of 20 matches to roll past Army 28-6 and Rutgers 26-10. Sophomore Matt Fisk led the way for the Brown and White, scoring falls in both of his matches, as Lehigh improved to 14-7 overall.

"Overall, this was a very good day for us," said Lehigh head coach Greg Strobel. "Everyone came out and wrestled well, and more importantly, when you wrestle two matches like we did today everyone came away healthy."

Fisk gave Lehigh an early fast start against Army, pinning Fernando Martinez in 1:54. Against the Scarlet Knights, he built a 14-0 first period lead over Andrew DelGuercio and was successful in finishing with a pin as opposed to a technical fall. With the victories, Fisk improves to 22-5 on the season, with a team leading ten falls.

The Mountain Hawks won the first five matches to take an 18-0 lead over the Black Knights. Seth and Matt Ciasulli each posted impressive wins by decision, with junior Jeff Santo and senior Dave Nakasone adding wins by decision as well.

Army posted its two wins at 165 and 174, as Brian Rowan won 6-1 over Lehigh freshman Manuel Schubert and Brent Smith used a riding time advantage to edge senior Dave Helfrich 3-1.

The final three bouts all went Lehigh's way, as freshman David Craig turned a first period takedown into a 3-1 win at 184, senior Matt Cassidy scored two five-point moves to earn a win by major decision at 197, and senior Paul Weibel, wrestling the full seven minutes in a rare occurrence, outscored Nathan Thobaben 15-9 at heavyweight.

Strobel juggled the Mountain Hawks lineup against the Scarlet Knights. Sophomore Kevin Vinh wrestled and lost by a 3-0 decision to Dan Hilt at 133, while junior Eddy Silverman lost by a 13-5 major decision, wrestling up at 197.

Matt Ciasulli extended Lehigh's lead to 11-3 after three bouts, scoring a 19-4 technical fall in 7:00 against Kyle Milanese. Santo, Nakasone, Helfrich and Craig all were winners by decision for Lehigh, as was freshman Justin Allen, who sent the home crowd happy with a 6-2 decision over Mike D'Amico in what was Allen's first varsity dual match.

The Mountain Hawks will return to the mat on Friday night, when they host No. 21 Nebraska in the 2007 Sheridan Dual inside Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall. First match is set for 7:05 pm.
