Mason seniors Bunduka and Harrison both won their matches in front of the home crowd at the RAC. At 125 pounds, Bunduka had three takedowns in the first period en route to his 21-6 technical fall win against VMI's Clifton Conway. Harrison battled against Chris beck at 184, and won by fall at 4:27. Harrison revenged a 4-1 loss to Beck last season.
VMI (2-11) earned points in two bouts (141 and 165) with a technical fall and a decision. The Keydets Shamus Bartmess narrowly defeated Mason's Garrett Griffith, 15-13 at 165 to bring VMI to within 10 points, 19-9, but that is the closest they would get as the Patriots won the last four matches.
In the final four duals, Mason earned 21 points with three matches won by fall and the other in sudden victory by Eli Spencer against Max Gallahan. Spencer won with a takedown halfway into the one minute period. He had previously lost to Gallahan earlier this season at the Franklin and Marshall Open.
The Patriots will prepare for the EWL Championships in Edinboro, Pa. on March 4.
