Just over a month ago, there was a major shakeup to the Lehigh coaching staff as longtime head coach Pat Santoro stepped down and his right-hand man, Brad Dillon, was elevated to the head coaching position. That transition left an open spot on the Mountain Hawks coaching staff.
Today, Dillon filled that vacancy by hiring three-time NCAA All-American Michael McGee. McGee started his collegiate career at Old Dominion, but transferred to Arizona State after the ODU program was cut. At ODU, McGee won a pair of MAC titles and made the NCAA bloodround, but he really thrived out west at ASU.
In each of his three years with the Sun Devils, McGee got on the NCAA podium and each time was higher than the last (6,4,3). In conference action, McGee picked up a pair of Pac-12 championships and was seeded in the top-four twice at the NCAA Championships.
McGee advanced to the NCAA semifinals in each of his last two seasons. As a senior, McGee fell in the semifinals, but finished his collegiate career with back-to-back wins over Jesse Mendez and Daton Fix.
Since his graduation, McGee has been active on the freestyle circuit. He was sixth at the US Open in 2025 and fifth at the 2026 Open. Also in 2026, McGee traveled to Albania for the Muhamet Malo Ranking Series event.
This will be McGee’s first official collegiate coaching position - he did spent two years as a recruiting coordinator for ASU.
McGee should have a solid group of lightweights to work with as Lehigh has All-American Luke Stanich at 141 lbs and Matty Lopes at 133. Also at 133 is top 30 prospect Keanu Dillard, an incoming freshman.
