Edinboro has now won 11 of the last 12 meetings with the Huskies. The shutout was the first for the Fighting Scots since a 40-0 win over Cleveland State on January 28, 2012.
On Saturday, the Fighting Scots picked up bonus points at seven of the ten weight classes, along with a forfeit win at 197 lbs. Billy Miller gained the lone pin of the day as he won by fall over Bo Spiller at heavyweight at 6:40. The redshirt sophomore, ranked 12th, improved to 19-8.
Freshman Dakota Geer, now ranked 19th by InterMat at 184 lbs., boosted his record to 19-5 with a 19-0 technical fall over Kyle Murphy at 4:47.
Five Fighting Scots won by major decision - Sean Russell at 125 lbs. with a 19-9 win at 125 lbs.; Nate Hagan, who made his return to the lineup at 141 lbs. with a 10-2 win; Chase Delande with a 9-1 win at 157 lbs.; Fritz Hoehn with a 9-1 win at 165 lbs.; and Ty Schoffstall with a 10-1 win over Trevor Allard.
Russell and Korbin Myers picked up their 20th wins of the season. Russell is now 20-5 at 125 lbs., while Myers is 20-7 at 133 lbs.
Edinboro returns to action in the Pitt Duals on Saturday, September 14. The Fighting Scots will face Bown, North Carolina, and VMI.
