Tanner Shoap got things started for Drexel at 125 with a 15-11 decision over Oregon State's Kegan Calkins but then Anthony Canfora lost by technical fall to Joey Palmer at 133, giving the Beavers a 5-3 lead. David Pearce and Jack Hathaway remained scoreless into the third period at 141, but late near-fall points from Pearce allowed him to walk away with a 4-0 victory. No. 17 Matthew Cimato came up with a pin just over four minutes into the 149 match that would put the Dragons ahead, 12-5 after four matches.
Willie Davis would go on to edge Oregon State's Abraham Rodriguez with the riding time point to secure a 6-5 decision at 157 just before halftime. As the dual resumed, Austin Rose added a 5-1 win over Rodney Williams at 165 and Ebed Jarrell followed with a 12-2 major decision over Weston Dobler at 174. Leading the Beavers, 22-5, Alex DeCiantis added a 9-4 victory in the 184 match to put the Dragons ahead by 10 points with two matches to play.
At 197, Joshua Murphy came close to upsetting No. 18 Corey Griego, but Griego secured a takedown with 15 seconds remaining to break a 1-1 tie. Murphy was able to escape in the remaining time, but ultimately fell to Griego by a score of 3-2.
No. 20 Joey Goodhart finished off the night in exciting fashion as he edged the Beavers' Cody Crawford, 5-4. With this, the Dragons were able to walk away with a 28-8 win for their eighth victory of the season.
With the win, Drexel improves to 8-5 overall, while Oregon State moves to 1-4 on the year.
The Dragons return to action next Sunday, Jan. 29 when they will host EIWA opponent American at the Daskalakis Athletic Center for a dual that is set to begin at 6 p.m.
