The Camels (4-2, 1-0 SoCon) picked up bonus points in six of the final seven bouts to top the visiting Bulldogs (2-3, 0-2 SoCon).
After Doug Gudenburr's 5-4 decision for The Citadel to start the match, Campbell claimed the final nine weight classes. Decisions from No. 16 Quentin Perez at 165 and Austin Kraisser at 174 gave CU the 6-3 lead before back to back tech falls from No. 8 Andrew Morgan at 184, 22-6, and Chris Kober at 197, 18-3, ballooned the advantage to 16-3.
Campbell closed the match with pins in three of its final four bouts, starting with Korbin Meink's first period fall over Jordie White (2:15). No. 9 Noah Gonser followed with a fall over Nathan Orosco (2:43), and No. 9 Josh Heil's tech fall at 141 pounds gave Campbell a 36-3 lead heading into the final match, where Jason Kraisser closed out the win with a second period pin over Selwyn Porter (4:49).
No. 14 Jere Heino also claimed a decision for the Camels at heavyweight.
Next up, Campbell will welcome Oregon State and new SoCon program Presbyterian to Buies Creek on January 25.
