Bernstein, ranked ninth in the country in the 184-pound weight class according to the latest Amateur Wrestling News poll, improves to 23-6 overall on the season and is now 10-1 in matches decided by fall. The junior captain pinned Tomasz Filipkowski in 4:40.
Galiardo's 12-0 major decision over Alex Harnsberger was followed by a second straight Brown shutout in the shape of freshman Justin Staudenmayer's (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) 4-0 win against Casey Mitchell at 157. Junior Ricky McDonald (Carson City, Nev.) and sophomore Augustus Marker (Castle Rock, Colo.) each prevailed 7-2 at 174 and 197, respectively, while rookie Ryder Cavey (Eldersburg, Md.) capped the day with a 9-3 triumph in the heavyweight class.
Following a weeklong break from competition, the Bears hit the mat against Penn, Princeton and Johnson & Wales in their home opening Alumni Weekend meets. Brown squares off against the Quakers on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m.
