The Huskies had eight place winners as a team. Along with Veltre and Perry winning titles, Bryce Busler (Mechanicsburg/Cumberland Valley) took second, while Justin Grant (Easton/Easton) was third. In addition Matt Rappo (Holland/Council Rock South), Mike Dessino (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) and Nick Wilcox (Greene, NY/Greene Central) took fourth with Sam Shirey (Beaver Springs/Midd-West) finishing fifth.
In winning the 165-pound title Veltre, the top seed and ranked eighth nationally, won four matches and improved to 9-0 on the year. He beat third seeded and 16th-ranked Ramon Santinago of Rider, 9-4, in the finals.
Perry won the 197-pound weight class with four wins starting with a fall in 1:12 in his first match; then a win by technical fall in round two. In the finals, Perry, ranked 11th nationally and the top seed, beat Daniel Mitchell of American, who was seeded second and ranked 12th nationally, 6-3.
Busler, the top seed and ranked fifth nationally at 149 pounds, lost in the finals to second seed and sixth-ranked Jason Tsirtsis of Northwestern, 2-0. The loss was the first of the year for Busler.
The Huskies will be back in action on Dec. 1 at Madison Square Garden for the Grapple at the Garden. The Huskies will face Illinois and Penn.
