    Oklahoma State routs NC State

STILLWATER, Okla. -- The No. 1-ranked Oklahoma State wrestling program improved its perfect record to 9-0 Friday night after winning nine of 10 bouts to defeat North Carolina State, 35-3.

“We knew we were going to get their best,” head assistant coach Eric Guererro said. “They flew all the way out here from North Carolina. We were going to get their best, and that's kind of why we put our guys in this scenario. We probably would've liked our guys to exhibit more championship habits, but if anything, it gives us a lot to visit with them about tomorrow and a lot to improve on between now and Sunday.”

The Cowboys got the most points from 133-pounder Jordan Oliver. The top-ranked junior recorded an unbelievable 10 first period takedowns before pinning Ben Elliott in 4:07. It was Oliver's 11th fall of the season and brought his total dual takedowns to 43 in just nine bouts. The Easton, Pa., native is 13-1 on the year.

"In my wrestling career, no (I have never seen that),” Guererro said. “Jordan Oliver is very focused, and that's the only way you can do 10 takedowns in the first period - is to be extremely focused - so good for him."

Heavyweight Alan Gelogaev added five points with his 16-1 technical fall over Josh Davis in just 3:13. Gelogaev recorded three takedowns and three nearfalls to earn his first technical fall of the year. He has a team-best 14 bonus-point wins and a 19-0 record this season.

A trio of Cowboys scored major decisions on the night, including 165-pounder Dallas Bailey, 174-pounder Chris Perry and 184-pounder Chris McNeil.

Bailey defeated Nijel Jones for his third major decision of the year, escaping with just 10 seconds remaining to win, 14-6. Bailey improved to 10-7.

Perry's win over Quinton Godley improved his perfect record to 15-0 and gave him his seventh dual win of the year. The sophomore now has six bonus-point wins.

McNeil's seven takedowns en route to a 15-6 major decision were the most he has recorded in dual competition this year and helped him to his 12th victory. It was his fifth major decision.

Other Cowboy winners included 125-pounder Jon Morrison, who defeated Coltin Fought, 5-3, in sudden victory; 149-pounder Jamal Parks, who defeated Matt Nereim, 6-4; 157-pounder Albert White, who defeated Colton Palmer, 7-5; and 197-pounder Blake Rosholt, who defeated KaRonne Jones, 1-0.

As a team, OSU finished with 33 total takedowns while NCSU had just seven. The Cowboys had at least five bonus-point wins for the third-straight dual.

Top-ranked Oklahoma State takes the mat again Sunday in a double-header at Gallagher-Iba Arena, facing Binghamton at 2 p.m. and Bucknell at 4 p.m.
