COLUMBIA, Mo. --The second-ranked Cowboy wrestling team (14-0, 8-0 Big 12) upended No. 5 Missouri in front of a record-setting Hearnes Center crowd, 19-15, on Saturday afternoon. The win snapped Mizzou's 35-dual win streak and marked the Tigers' first loss at home in more than two years.

"They won 35 straight, and we were wrestling in front of the biggest crowd they've ever had… I've been saying all year long, we're living some good times in wrestling," said coach John Smith. "I'm not sure we could've done anything more. I thought we competed pretty well."

With the Cowboys leading 16-15 and only one match remaining, the dual came down to heavyweight Derek White's sudden-victory decision over Zach Elam. Both wrestlers' scored single escapes in regulation before White sealed the dual with a takedown in less than 30 seconds in sudden victory.

White was one of four seniors to notch crucial wins for OSU after the dual intermission. After the Pokes dropped three consecutive bouts, No. 10 Chandler Rogers took a decision from 14th -ranked Connor Flynn, 7-5. At 184 pounds, senior Jacobe Smith also won a decision for the Cowboys, 7-3, over No. 16 Dylan Wisman. The Cowboys trailed from the 141-pound bout through 184, before Preston Weigel notched a gritty, 4-1, decision over Wyatt Koelling. Weigel scored a double-leg takedown in the third period after a hands to the face call to put the Pokes back in front.

"We had to win four of the last five to secure the dual meet win, and on the road if you can do that, you deserve the win," Smith said."

Nick Piccininni earned OSU's only bonus-point win of the afternoon with an 11-2 decision over Dack Punke. Daton Fix earned his eighth win over a ranked opponent this season, taking out 10th-ranked John Erneste, 9-2.

The Cowboys wrap up their dual season at 2:00 p.m., Feb. 24, in Gallagher-Iba Arena against rival Iowa. Both programs are undefeated on the season. A win over the Hawkeyes would give Oklahoma State its 46th undefeated season in program history and its first since 2005. A win would also give Smith his seventh perfect dual season as head coach.
