    InterMat's All-Quarter Century Team: Missouri

Welcome to a new recurring feature on InterMat celebrating the first 25 years of the 21st century. Every couple of days, we’ll examine a particular collegiate program and highlight its accomplishments over the past quarter century.

    We’ve already looked at:

    Lehigh

    Minnesota

Missouri is a unique program, as it really came into its own as a national power during the last quarter century. Coming into 2001, Missouri had never produced an individual national champion. 25 years later, they’ve seen a handful of wrestlers get to the top step of the podium - a couple of them on multiple occasions.

As you’ll see below, Missouri's best work has been done by the back half of their lineup. They can go three-deep with four-time All-Americans at one upperweight, which is not the norm for any team at any weight.

Trying to assemble Missouri’s first team from this quarter century was generally pretty straightforward. At the same time, there were some four-time All-Americans and high placers that couldn’t get onto the first team. It says something about the state of Missouri wrestling where a second team could have the type of firepower that this one would have.

Wrestlers considered for the three teams had to compete from 2001-25. For the wrestlers early in this timeframe, their entire collegiate body of work was considered. Only collegiate results were taken into consideration. Even if a wrestler was successful at multiple weights, they were only selected for one weight - typically it was based on the strongest possible first team.

After the three All-Century teams, there are some fun facts about Missouri’s results over the past 25 years.
