STILLWATER -- Cowboy wrestlers Alex Dieringer and Austin Marsden became Junior World Team members for the second year in row on Sunday at the 2013 FILA Junior World Team Trials, held in Stillwater, Okla., at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

The pair advances to the Junior World Championships on Aug. 13-18 in Sofia, Bulgaria.

"I got really excited after Marsden's final match because we were on the team together last year," Dieringer said. "It's awesome to have someone you're close with to make the team and experience everything with."

Dieringer flew through the 74-kilo challenge bracket, picking up three technical falls to earn a spot in the finals. He finished the job in a best-of-three series against Dylan Palacio, who earned an automatic bid to the finals, with scores of 7-3 and 10-3, respectively.

"It was great wrestling in front of these fans," Dieringer said. "It made me work harder. I have a lot of confidence now after getting third at NCAAs and I want to carry that over into freestyle."

Marsden was just as explosive as he won his first match of the day in just 16 seconds with a five-point throw to end the match. He continued with two technical falls to finish off the 120 kilos challenge bracket to move onto the finals. He wasn't slowed down as he pinned Adam Coon in the first championship bout and followed it with a 10-3 technical fall to earn his spot on the World team.

"I'd probably give my performance a seven or eight," Marsden said. "I feel like I could've been a little more offensive, but everything worked out. I think my shots were good and my counters were good."

Dieringer and Marsden were among nine Cowboys who competed at the event.

Cowboy newcomer Anthony Collica produced a third-place finish at 66 kilos in his first time wrestling at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

"It was fun to wrestle in Gallagher-Iba. It was a lot of fun," Collica said. "I'm excited for my future as a Cowboy."

Jordan Rogers and Austin Schafer finished the tourney in fourth at 84 kilos and 96 kilos, respectively.

Other Pokes who made appearances include Gunnar Woodburn (55 kg), Brian Crutchmer (60 kilos), Kyle Crutchmer (84 kilos) and Nolan Boyd (84 kilos).
