Ohio State scores 28 unanswered in downing Illinois

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The No. 4 Ohio State University wrestling team (7-1, 3-0 B1G) erased an early deficit and ultimately tore through Illinois (4-3, 1-2 B1G), 28-6. The Buckeyes won the final eight bouts of the afternoon, including five victories over nationally-ranked Fighting Illini.

The highest-ranked win came from the unranked (for now) Rocky Jordan in the 184-pound tilt. Jordan picked up his 22nd win of the season, an impressive one over No. 11 Zac Braunagel. Ethan Smith handed an ‘L' to the Braunagel name as well, getting past Danny Braunagel in a tightly-contested 3-1 decision.

Additional top-25 triumphs for Ohio State came from Luke Pletcher (def. No. 12 Dylan Duncan), Elijah Cleary (def. No. 22 Eric Barone) and Kaleb Romero (def. No. 16 Joey Gunther).

Sammy Sasso and Kollin Moore were not pitted against top-25 guys, and it showed as both threw bonus points on to the scoreboard. Sasso majored Mousa Jodeh, 13-3, while Moore recorded the first Buckeye pin in Covelli Center history.
