Mitch Rogaliner got the forfeit win at 125 pounds to start the dual as Indiana conceded six points to the Spartans.
Garth Yenter continued MSU's (5-10, 1-7 Big Ten) momentum by pinning Alonzo Sheperd in the second period at the 4:22 mark. It marked Yenter's first-ever fall in a Big Ten dual.
Javier Gasca recorded his first win in his new weight class at 141 pounds as he shut out Sean Brown, 15-0, to get the technical fall and five more points for the Spartans.
Indiana (2-9, 0-8 Big Ten) made a run during the middle portion of the dual, trimming MSU's 17-0 lead to 17-16 after winning four straight matches. Trevor Moody tallied a 5-2 decision over Nick Trimble at 149 pounds, and Travis Curley fell in a major decision, 10-2, to Luke Blanton at 157. Sixth-ranked Taylor Walsh beat Roger Wildmo by major decision at 165 pounds, 10-0, followed by No. 15 Nate Jackson's 18-3 technical fall over Nick Proctor in the 174-pound bout.
But the Spartans never relinquished the lead, pulling out wins in the final three weight classes. John Rizqallah turned things around for MSU with a 4-0 shutout win over Matt Irick at 184 pounds, and Nick McDiarmid followed suit with a narrow 2-1 win against Luke Sheridan at 197.
Chris Nash closed the dual with a 6-4 decision over Garret Goldman at heavyweight.
MSU returns to action Sunday at 1 p.m. to face No. 24 Purdue in West Lafayette, Indiana. The dual will be streamed live on BTN Plus.
