Ashnault Returns to Rutgers as Associate Head Coach

Two days after competing in his first RAF match, Anthony Ashnault was in the news again as Rutgers announced that he will return to the program as the associate assistant coach.

Ashnault spent the last two years as an assistant coach at Princeton. During his time at Princeton, 10 wrestlers qualified for the national tournament. In 2026, 125 lber Marc-Anthony McGowan’s NCAA finals run helped push the Tigers into the #20 spot in Cleveland.

Ashnault returns to a Rutgers program where he is the all-time wins leader with 123. He is also the Scarlet Knights only four-time All-American. In 2019, Ashnault closed his collegiate career with a perfect 32-0 and a national title at 149 lbs. He was one of two national champions for Rutgers and led the team to a ninth-place finish at the national tournament - the best in school history.

Other collegiate accolades for Ashnault include a pair of Big Ten titles and a championship at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational.

Before coming to Rutgers, Ashnault became the first New Jersey high school wrestler to win four state titles and go undefeated in the process. He was the #12 overall recruit in the high school Class of 2013.
