    Augustana downs Southwest Minnesota State

    Augustana won 8 overall matches, including the final 6 bouts of the night to defeat Southwest Minnesota State 32-6 in a non-conference dual Friday night in Marshall, Minn.

    The Vikings, ranked No. 11 in the latest NCAA Division II poll, used a pin by Austin Scarset and 4 major decisions to propel them to the win an improve to 5-3 in dual action this season. The Mustangs dropped to 1-3.

    Scarset, ranked No. 2 in the nation at 157 pounds, wasted little time in pinning SMSU's Chris Fast in only 40 seconds. It was the only pin of the dual and gave the Vikings a 12-6 lead.

    Aaron Haddorff then picked up a major decision at 165 pounds. Following a decision by Cody Henriksen at 174 pounds, Beau Severtson (184), Nate Buys (197) and Ray O'Connor (Hwt) all recorded major decision victoies.

    Chris Trampe got the Vikings off to a good start, edging SMSU's Kurt Smith 7-6 at 125 pounds. Also winning was Jordan Burmeister, who earned a 10-6 win over Ryan Reed at 141 pounds.

    Augustana will be in action again on Saturday when the Vikings host St. Cloud State in a 2 p.m. dual at the Elmen Center. It will also be Parents Day.
