    Army pounds Bucknell

    WEST POINT, N.Y. -— Brent Smith pinned his opponent at 174 pounds, and eight other Army wrestlers won bouts as the Black Knights rolled past Bucknell, 36-6, Tuesday evening in an EIWA wrestling match at Davis Gym. Army improves to 1-1 (1-0 EIWA), while Bucknell falls to 2-2 (0-1 EIWA).

    Smith pinned Shane Riccio in 4 minutes, 32 seconds in the 174-pound bout to lead the way for the Black Knights, who rebounded from a 41-0 loss at Hofstra in their season opener.

    Matthew Kyler, Brian Rowan and Scott Ferguson also picked up "bonus points" for Army. Kyler picked up a 12-4 major decision over David Marble at 133 pounds. Rowan tallied a 20-8 major decision versus Michael Guttilla at 149 pounds. Ferguson scored a 13-4 major decision opposite George Mann at 184 pounds.

    Whitt Dunning, William Simpson, Christopher Grill, Connor Sanders and Michael Sprigg all earned victories for Army as well. Dunning defeated Greg Hart, 9-4, at 125 pounds, Simpson squeaked by Zach Galligan, 2-0, at 141 pounds, Grill downed Brantley Hooks, 7-3, at 157 pounds, Sanders edged Eric Lapotsky, 4-3, at 197 pounds and Sprigg picked up a win via injury default in the heavyweight bout.

    Army won the first five bouts of the night, jumping ahead of Bucknell, 16-0. After Andy Rendos pinned John Drew in 2:11 at 165 pounds to pull the Bison to within 16-6, the Black Knights won the final four matchups to secure the 30-point verdict.

    The Black Knights return to action on Sunday, Dec. 3, at the Nittany Lion Open in State College, Pa.
