Ferrari Denied Admission at North Carolina

This morning, we learned that the University of North Carolina has denied admission to 2021 NCAA champion AJ Ferrari. Last month, an article in the Daily Tar Heel mentioned some of Ferrari’s past legal troubles and this reportedly led the UNC athletic department to reconsider his case. 

Ferrari spent the 2024-25 campaign at CSU Bakersfield and finished the year with a 22-1 record and was third in the nation. 

Shortly after the NCAA Tournament, Ferrari entered the transfer portal and selected North Carolina as his next destination. Since Ferrari was in the portal this year, there is the thought that he’ll be able to transfer again. The question arises as the portal closed for the year on May 2nd and the only loopholes are if there’s a head coaching change or for a graduate student.
