NC State 24 North Carolina 10
The Pack maintained its grip on the in-state rivalry, beating the Tar Heels for the 13th straight year. There were some tight matches and a few upsets, but the Pack won the last four bouts to put the dual away. The biggest stories here were the upsets; freshman Luke Simcox took out former All-American Ryan Jack in a 2-1 bout, and freshman Will Denny earned a major decision over Bryce Hepner and Zach Redding ended the dual with an upset over Ethan Oakley.

We expected a good dual in Blacksburg, and the Hokies and Cardinal delivered. Eddie Ventresca opened the dual with a controlling win over Nico Provo, who was coming off an upset of NCAA Champion Vince Robinson. True freshman Aaron Seidel made his Cassell Coliseum debut with a dominating major decision over returning All-American Tyler Knox - Seidel is now 11-0 on the year and this was his first match to go a full seven minutes. Jack Consiglio continued his run with an upset win over Tom Crook, followed by another true freshman, Collin Gaj, with an upset win over Aden Valencia in the top-10 battle. Angelo Posada looked fantastic in a major decision win over Sonny Sasso and Jimmy Mullen put the dual away for the Hokies with a first-period pin.

In the second leg of their Virginia swing, the Cardinal had a statement win over Virginia, though the dual felt a lot closer than the score would suggest. Nico Provo used a late takedown and rideout for the decision win over Keyveon Roller. Tyler Knox and Marlon Yarbrough was a scramble-fest, Jack Consiglio went 2-0 on the weekend with a dominant win over Gable Porter, as did Daniel Cardenas, who picked up bonus-point wins in both duals. Angelo Posada added to his pin tally to climb higher up the national leader board, followed by a Brenan Morgan pin for the Hoos.

This dual has determined at least a share of the ACC dual title the past 11 years - and there is a high likelihood it will again tonight as well. The atmosphere will be electric in Reynolds for what has become a must-see annual dual.
There are multiple must-see matches in this one. 125 pits reigning NCAA Champ against two time All-American Eddie Ventresca; Ventresca is undefeated in their three previous matches. 149 is another top-10 matchup featuring true freshman Collin Gaj and Koy Buesgens, who has been a dominant force all season. We will see other top-10 guys in Aaron Seidel, Matty Singleton, and Isaac Trumble - both teams will need others to step up, as well.
The “swing” matches are at 141, 157, 165, 184 and 197. This will be the first national broadcast of ACC Friday Night Duals on ACCNetwork with Rock and Shawn on the call. I’m heading to Raleigh as soon as I hit send on this preview. I’ve learned in my time covering the ACC that this is a dual where I always want a front-row seat.

Pittsburgh at North Carolina
This is one of those sneaky good duals in the ACC this season. Both teams have some great wins on the year and have ranked guys throughout the lineup--they also both have one dual loss in the ACC and need the win here to keep hope alive for a share of the dual title. This will be an interesting matchup with UNC being stronger at the lower weights and Pitt being favored in the upper weights. Some great matches to keep an eye on - 157 with Dylan Evans and Laird Root could be a fun one, different styles and two guys who will go after points. I’m interested in 184 - Jake Dailey has been strong for the Tar Heels all year and Chase Kranitz seems to be finding his groove for the Panthers. The other one I’m looking at is 165, Keslar has looked better every week and Hepner is coming off a tough loss - this will be an important match for both teams.

Virginia at Duke
This will be an important dual for both teams to try to get some momentum going into the back half of the ACC duals. Duke seems to have settled into their lineup and has been led by Aidan Wallace and Connor Barket. The Hoos have had different guys stand out throughout the year and are seeking more consistency going into the postseason; Keyveon Roller and Gable Porter have been solid all year, while transfers Wynton Denkins and Colton Washleski have provided some veteran presence and some grittiness in the middle of the lineup. I’m pleased that we are seeing Nick Hamilton seeming to find his stride after a rocky start at a new weight. The biggest matchup of the dual is at 174 with Nick Hamilton and Aidan Wallace both coming in ranked and looking for an important win for ACC seeding.
125: #25 Keyveon Roller v Riley Rowan
133: Marlon Yarbrough v John King
141: Gable Porter v Raymond Adams
149: Wynton Denkins v Dylan Ross
157: #32 Colton Washleski v Mikey Boulanger
165: Nick Sanko/Michael Murphy v Aurelis Dunbar
174: #27 Nick Hamilton v #23 Aidan Wallace
184: Dylan Newsom/Griff Gammell/Jack Lesher v David Hussey
197: Stephen Burrell v Owen McGrory
285: Brenan Morgan v #23 Connor Barket
