    2026 ACC Week 2 Review - Week 3 Preview

A busy week two will lead to a pretty light week three, but we will see some great ACC action this weekend. Looking back at week two and looking ahead to week three in the ACC.

    Pittsburgh 17 West Virginia 15

We didn’t see the full starting contingent for the Panthers, but they came away with a ranked win. Dylan Evans had a tight match with Ty Watters and looked solid in a loss. Chase Kranitz had a huge upset win and Mac Stout continued his recent run with a ranked win over Rune Lawrence.

    North Carolina 25 Virginia 10

North Carolina continued their quietly strong run through this season. Most matches went according to rankings, but UNC came away with an upset win from Luke Simcox - who hit a beautiful Jonesy to open the match up and a solid win to cap the dual from Ethan Oakely over a very tough Marlon Yarbrough, who returned to the lineup last week. The Hoos had good wins from Wynton Denkins and Nick Hamilton.

Not much to write about here. The Hokies took care of business. Drew Gorman stepped in to give Tom Crook a match off and looked solid. Jaden Bullock avenged a loss and picked up a ranked win over Tomas Brooker.

    NC State 21 Stanford 20

The Wolfpack picked up another close ACC win on their trip to the West Coast. Ryan Jack came back off an upset loss to get a pin over Jack Consiglio and Koy Buesgens had a dominating win over a very good Aden Valencia for the Pack. Two big notes for the Cardinal - a huge upset win at 125 for Nico Provo over NCAA Champion Vince Robinson in sudden victory and Angelo Posada with another pin for the Trees over a ranked Patrick Brophy.

125 - Nico Provo (Stanford) dec Vincent Robinson (NC State)  4-1SV

Moving into week three of ACC duals, we will have an in-state rivalry between North Carolina and NC State and a Virginia swing for Stanford, hitting Virginia Tech Friday, and Virginia Saturday, before trying to escape the impending winter storm. There are some great individual matchups with significant ACC implications, as well as dual title implications, with both North Carolina teams coming in undefeated in conference duals.

#11 North Carolina at #9 North Carolina State

UNC is looking for a major upset in Raleigh tonight and will rely on the youth in their lineup to make it happen. I see several toss-up matches here and three big ones to watch that will determine how this dual shakes out. At 125, Kysen Terukina comes in with only one loss on the year against the reigning NCAA Champion Vince Robinson, who just lost his second match of the year to an ACC opponent. Luke Simcox has put together a great freshman season, but will have to battle veteran and All-American Ryan Jack at 141. The other big match I’m keeping an eye on is at 165. Bryce Hepner has made the most of his transfer to Chapel Hill and will face a dangerous and young Will Denny, who has some big wins, and some tough losses already on the season. NC State has won its first two ACC duals by a total of three points - there is potential for another close one tonight.

    125: #15 Kysen Terukina v #5 Vince Robinson

    133: #18 Ethan Oakley v Troy Hohman

    141: #17 Luke Simcox v #12 Ryan Jack

    149: Nate Askew v #5 Koy Buesgens

    157: #28 Laird Root v Brogan Tucker

    165: #10 Bryce Hepner v #15 Will Denny

    174: Collin Carrigan v #5 Matty Singleton

    184: #13 Jake Dailey v Donald Cates

    197: #33 Robert Platt v #26 Patrick Brophy

    285: #28 Nolan Neves v #2 Isaac Trumble

#24 Stanford at #8 Virginia Tech

There are some heavy hitting individual matches in this dual that will have major implications on ACC tournament seeding. We learned last week that the Cardinal lost two starters - Hunter Garvin and Lorenzo Norman - for the year with injuries, and we learned this week that the Hokies have lost Dillon Campbell for the year. We will see the dual debut of Aaron Seidel, a highly touted prospect who is 11-0 on the year with a Midlands title. None of his matches have gone the distance; he has a fall or a tech fall in every match he has wrestled this season.

The key matches we will see are at 125 with the two wrestlers who hold wins over the reigning NCAA champ this year in Nico Provo and Eddie Ventresca. This will be followed by All-American Tyler Knox facing Aaron Seidel in his dual debut. 149 and 157 are also both big-ranked matches with Aden Valencia hitting Collin Gaj and Daniel Cardenas facing Ethen Miller. And for a matchup with potential fireworks, look no further than 197 where we see two wide-open pinners in Angelo Posada and Sonny Sasso. I’m heading down to Blacksburg shortly. This should be a fun dual.

    125: #12 Nico Provo v #3 Eddie Ventresca

    133: #7 Tyler Knox v Aaron Seidel

    141: #18 Jack Consiglio v #22 Tom Crook

    149: #9 Aden Valencia v #10 Collin Gaj

    157: #10 Daniel Cardenas v #16 Ethen Miller

165: EJ Parco v Mac Church

    174: Collin Guffey v #33 Sergio Desiante

    184: #33 Abe Wojcikiewicz v #31 Jaden Bullock

    197: #17 Angelo Posada v #15 Sonny Sasso

    285: Luke Duthie v #16 Jimmy Mullen

    #24 Stanford at Virginia

Stanford will finish their Virginia swing with a short turnaround. This dual was moved up a few hours due to the winter storm bearing down on the East Coast--I’m hopeful the California crew is able to make it back home quickly.

Big matches to watch out for here are again at the lower weights. Nico Provo wraps up a tough weekend with a dangerous Keyveon Roller and Tyler Knox will get a very hungry Marlon Yarbrough. Gable Porter will look to get back on the winning side against Jack Consiglio, who has been solid for the Cardinal all year. The matches at 149 and 157 could be fun, as all four of these guys are willing to let it fly. Virginia will have a battle to be able to come away with the win, but they have a path; Stanford will have a short time to reset after a tough Friday night dual and a long road trip.

    125: #12 Nico Provo v#23 Keyveon Roller

    133: #7 Tyler Knox v #33 Marlon Yarbrough

    141: #18 Jack Consiglio v Gable Porter

    149: #9 Aden Valencia v Wynton Denkins

    157: #10 Daniel Cardenas v Colton Washleski

165: EJ Parco v Michael Murphy

    174: Collin Guffey v #27 Nick Hamilton

    184: #33 Abe Wojcikiewicz v Dylan Newsom/Griff Gammell/Jack Lesher

    197: #17 Angelo Posada v Stephen Burrell

285: Luke Duthie v Brenan Morgan
