The end of the 2024-25 regular season is rapidly approaching! We only have two weekends of competition left before the postseason begins. While “all that matters is March” is definitely a mindset in our sport, there’s plenty to pay attention to over the next two weeks. Particularly, the next four days. Yes, this is a Thursday with some high-quality matchups.
What we’re focusing on now are some of the best individual matchups on tap for these next four days. There are plenty more that we’ve omitted (we’re only writing about 16); however, these may have the most significance from a rankings standpoint, or storylines, or in relation to the outcome of their duals.
Remember, here’s how to watch each of these matches below.
Thursday, February 13th
285 lbs - #19 Gavin Hoffman (Lock Haven) vs. #30 Daniel Bucknavich (Cleveland State)
Let’s hope this dual isn’t the last meeting between the twins who coach the teams - Scott Moore at Lock Haven and Josh Moore at Cleveland State. A few weeks ago, we learned that the CSU athletic department intends to drop the Viking program after the 2024-25 season.
For the action on the mat, this could be a preview of the MAC finals at heavyweight. Gavin Hoffman has come out of retirement to wrestle 285 lbs for the first time and he’s been very good. A bout with Bucknavich could be one of his toughest tests of the season.
