  1. Pretty high profile examples. One was NCAA finals, the other was repeatedly throughout a career. Doubt they were missed calls. What exactly is the folkstyle rule?
  2. Carter was bviously injured? First of all, he fell on his side when he was about to be turned and grabbed at his knee to get a break. Secondly, Penn State's "cyclical training" makes them impervious to injury. He obviously felt well enough to run his mouth at Ringer AFTER the match.
  3. I'm sure "he was trolling." That is what he claims now when he is caught being wrong.
  4. It is a rule in folkstyle? Strange! I seem to recall Jesse Jantzen scoring repeatedly with a crab ride + 1/2 and never coming out of the crab ride or the half. I also saw Mitch Clark score a Jacob's hook repeatedly on Vertus Jones without releasing his leg ride or crossface. Must have been some poor officiating!
  5. I think the seeding rules may have changed...
  6. He's out of the hospital, but I think his ego is in the ICU. (Although The Carter actually looked to be talking trash to Ringer of the way off the mat.)
  7. "Overtraining" isn't as common as most of us think. What most of us here are referring to as overtraining is often called "overreaching" by sports scientists. Overtraining takes months to recover from. Overreaching can be rectified in a period of days.
  8. You could even score 20!
  9. You can score zero points and end the match with a half nelson.
  10. It was a rule at one point. I don't really understand the leg lace hate. If you don't want to get laced, keep your ankles away from each other. People complain that the match can be ended with one move. This is true, but it is true in all wrestling. You're always one half nelson or one power half away from losing. Eventually, you figure out how to be less susceptible to those holds.
  11. I don't know... LeDuke told me that he heard Iowa had a three hour practice the day before nationals, because Brands wanted to make the boys mentally tougher! No tapering whatsoever! The Brands believe tapering is fiction!
  12. If the PSU/NLWC system was as good as the fanboys think it is, they would never ever get better. I'm sure the staff wasn't entirely happy with Nolf's 2nd period vs KOT, and will look for ways to make improvements going forward. Cael is not infallible. He knows that. I'm sure stuff bothers him every day, and he looks to make fixes for every guy every day.
  13. Yes, they are not the saints that some would have you believe. Kerk currently wrestling without an ACL. They let Carter continue last night. Their handling of Berge and David Taylor's concussions could be termed coaching malpractice. Shakur Rasheed was being held together by duct tape as a senior.
  14. Mocco's grown brother moved out to Iowa for the same reasun. I assume he moved to OSU as well. Not sure if he made the trek to Florida. Ferrari family goes everywhere together. Did the Morans all move to Oklahoma? I'm sure there are plenty more.
  15. No. (I think) he supposedly took the job, but didn't want to tell Spencer that he was moving to Iowa, as that might have influenced Spencer's decision. He theoretically wanted Spencer to make his own decision.
  16. Is that notch for cautions? (Because Bartlett's 10 is underscored)
  17. I wonder if the fact that it was two NLWC guys that added to the coaches confusion? "Yeah! Nick forced him to back out! Go NLWC!!!"
  18. Yes. Allegedly, dad had coincidentally been hired for a great job in Iowa, but hid the info from Spencer because he didn't want to influence his college decision. (If I remember correctly)
  19. There was no industrial waste in my heyday, sir!
  20. Has The Carter ever beaten someone relatively (by D1 wrestling standards) healthy in a national final?
