  1. AI Overview
Since World War II, Democrats in Congress have been responsible for a larger share of the gross federal debt than Republicans, with Democrats accounting for about 74% and Republicans about 26%, according to the Joint Economic Committee (JEC). When considering debt held by the public, Democrats in Congress have incurred 90.3% while Republicans are responsible for 9.7%, according to the JEC. This includes debt held in intra-governmental accounts, which is primarily owed to Social Security and Medicare Trust Funds.

Search term:  US deficits by who controlled congress

That was easy.  Offthemat was correct.

  2. This is correct at least in part.   Clinton was on a path to increase the deficit.   1994, was the year of the Gingrich contract with America, the Ds got shellacked and R's took over and essentially forced Clinton to be more fiscally responsible.   Seeing the tea leaves, he moved in that direction anyway.

Obama had a similar thing when deficits went down.

It is correct the deficits went up under R admins but a look at the Congresses that provided the spending bills gives a story as well.

His wealth is increased by the value of the free asset he now controls, an asset worth ~$400 million that he paid $0 for.

This makes no sense.   It is not his airplane.   It is the government's if they ever actually receive it.   If it goes to the library it will still be the gov's airplane.   At no time will it be in Trump's legal possession.  I think this has more to do with Trump in your mind than it has to do with the plan and the facts in the case.  I think you have taken this as far as is possible.

  4. I surely didn't complain about the child tax credit.   That was nice while it lasted.   Not sure how I think about this.   But where the gov gives, it can take away.   I would be more concerned about that.  But at a time where we are spending more than we bring in, not really the best investment unless they offset it with equal spending cuts.

  5.  Vak - You have still not shown how Trump makes money on this deal?  You have said a lot of things but nothing concrete about how he makes money on this if he flies in it and then it gets donated to his library.   The way I see it ( if true):

Qatar gifts the US DOD a 747-8 luxury jet

US outfits the jet so that it can be  an Air Force 1 command center which it will need to be which will cost federal money.

The US govt could gift it or donate it to Trump's library, but it would be the government's airplane since it was donated to DOD.

So how does Trump make money on this deal?   Not talking about side money like SS agents in hotels etc.   They will have to go where he goes and stay where he stays.   That's part of the deal.   He has above the board hotels that he may choose to stay at, but may choose not to.   He may go to a place where he has no hotel.   The question is how does he make money on this deal?   Please be clear and concrete in your explanation.

  6. Yep he is so incompetent that he fielded pros to negotiate (called delegation) while he took care of the other affairs of state.   Funny how you think a President controls every aspect of everything that goes on in an administration.   He usually gives his conditions and delegates the work out.   You think you are dissing but actually paying a backhanded compliment to Trump and his leadership qualities.

  7. If they broke the law for sure, arrest and prosecute.  If not, then no.   It doesn't matter who they are.

Here in Seattle, nobody would be arrested unless they are identified as Trump backers or other conservative types.   Then they would find themselves in the poky and not with an ankle bracelet that can be cut off.    They only use those for multi convicted felons.   It is wonderful here for sure.    Avg Joe Citizen around here is a liberal nut job or homeless drug addict who would absolutely get no consequence.

Went up today. It will go back down. Fortunately for him, he sent professionals to negotiate w China, but it's only temporary. Market is still down since inauguration and we'll see additional dips in near future. I'm not sweating it. He's a screw up. Plain and simple.

Wow, RV actually paying Trump a compliment here.   He sent Professionals to negotiate with China, resulting in a 90 day pause on tariffs to a much more reasonable level.   This a is very interesting development.

  9. Qatar gifts a $400  million airplane.   Trump uses it as Air Force one.   Then the fool allows his library to have it.   If the it decommissioned, it no longer flies.   What good would the $400 million be?   If it is not decommissioned, and it does fly, the costs of flying are immense, much cheaper with his 757.   If it is refurbished into an AF-1, it will be the Federal Govts money that he would have to reimburse.  Refurbing a 747 into AF-1 capable is not cheap.  So I'm really not following the how he will be $400 million richer unless he sells it.   I don't see how it is not used for future Presidents until Boeing makes good on their contract.     And then Trump would have to reimburse the government for the refurb job if the govt lets him take it to his library at all.

So I'm really not following how he will be $400 million richer unless he sells it, which he will not be able to do because it is loaded with super secret upgrades.

  10. Guys on the radio were clowning around.   One guy from Chicago thought about the first thing the new Pope should have done was it to declare if he was a fan of White Sox or Cubs.  Did he wish peace and prosperity to all the world except Green Bay.   The other said, yeah, you can take the Pope out of Chicago but you can't take Chicago out of the Pope!!!

I thought it was funny banter.

  11. Abrego was an illegal alien.   Caught driving 8 illegals across state borders in a car owned by a known and convicted human trafficker.  He beat his wife and wife and wife's previous husband said he is a gang member.

Why do you guys want this guy to come back to the US for again?

  12. Fits good.   It plays different than my LP, but I'm getting used to it.   It still sounds very nice to my ears.   I have to put everything away each time I quit playing so I can't leave all the pedals hooked up and iti s a pain to get them out and set it up so I don't use them much.    Sounds pretty good even without effects.
