That's what Kennedy kept doing to Hamiti.
It's notable that the most of the few offensive and exciting Iowa wrestlers were largely first trained elsewhere: Eierman, Woods, etc. before arriving to Iowa.
Otherwise, they just emulate the Brands old school tough guy push and shove, strength and aggressiion style and approach. More defense than offense.
Even what Lee (who is very offensive) does was mostly imported from PA when he arrived in Iowa.
It's like Iowa is trying to live analog in a digital or virtual world.
Surely you’re not dumb enough to argue that going for a stalemate is unique to Iowa wrestlers…

Weird match from Lee. Didn’t really look like he was trying to score bonus, but didn’t really looked gassed either.

Might be time for Tim Johnson to hang it up.

JB doesn't win one at Iowa
I disagree. I think JB wins one at any Big10 team he goes to…. and hell, his sophomore season he was handled by an Iowa guy who won the title. Face it, Iowa has way more champs and develops champs more consistently than Nebby does. Get over it.

Here's what it comes down to. Brands has always gotten big time recruits because of the Iowa name he inherited. As far as coaching, brands has shown he doesn't make his guys much better. Manning on the other hand, doesn't always get the top recruits but coaches them up. Better coach manning, but recruits Brands. But you do see nebraska has closed the gab and if not leap frogged now and for years to come
Guys like McDonough, Borschel, and St John don’t win a title at Nebby. That’s a fact.
Iowa destroyed Nebby in the dual, they are beating Nebby in the tourney and you’re talking about the gap being closed? You’re delusional.

it's not ridiculous... look at how iowa wrestled 20 years ago.
now today
looks the same for the guys of their caliber.
they just dont have the hammers anymore except for Lee
warner, brands murin
all wrestle like the average guys of previous years
nothing has changed. not saying they are bad...
but have they kept up?
They are consistently in the top 3…. Outside of PSU they are the most consistent program. Have they kept up? Well, more than everyone but PSU.
Nebby is never in the discussion for a team title. Iowa is every year.

Oh totally. I agree. But those guys i mentioned should have been NC. Never where. AM was always under achieving at NCAAs and he was favored. Kem never got over the hump. Same as DeSantos. All great wrestlers but still. I guess my point is its going to be really fun to watch where this team could go. But I also think everyone who isnt Penn St prolly needs to sit down.
During that time though, Iowa had national titles, individual and team. You see how it’s ridiculous for @jajensen09 to say Nebby is keeping up with the times, while Iowa is not, right?

How many does a Manning have?

If you're going to slight Manning and Co for Red (who was still ended up a 3x AA) and Venz do they on the flip side get credit for Berger and Dudley? Your point about Kokesh is a fair one, he was definitely the favorite to win it all in 2015 at 174.
I am not trying to just put down Manning. Nebby has been a great program, but there is reason to doubt Peyton Robb based on some of the things I stated and my prediction of him not winning isn’t completely unfounded and far from “the dumbest comment of the night” as stated by @jajensen09

Both of them were great wrestlers. I mean we can pick and choose alot of people who under achieved. Kem, Alex Marlnelli, DeSanto to name a few. I mean its funny all the arguing back a forth while Penn St is over there being like. Yea.. you guys are doing well. As they walk past all the trophies.
Would you agree that Venz got worse from his Freshman year to his Senior? He placed as a freshman and never again. I don’t think you can say the same about any of the guys you listed.

3 freshman in the big 10 finals says otherwise bud
No it doesn’t. It doesn’t change the fact that Nebby hasn’t had a champ in 10 years and has consistently been dominated by Iowa. Hell Nebby is losing to Iowa in this very tourney and you are using it as a reason for why they are better than Iowa. It’s quite hilarious.

i remember discussions about the penn 5 at iowa too... how did that all work out...
They won a team national title?

Im not gonna pretend that Nebraska has a been a dominate team in the past. A consistent Top 10 at NCAAs, Finished second like 2 or 3 years ago at Big Tens. Had a couple of guys in the finals but they lost to absolute studs ( Nolf and Yanni) But I do think Manning has picked up his recruiting and has been getting better talent in the room. Its showing. Hardy, Robb, Lovett, Pinto, Allred. All young. All back next year. Nebraska isnt a Penn State, or Iowa. But Its hard not to see they are building something pretty cool. Something that will challenge at the top
Doesn’t it feel like we’ve been here though? I remember discussions about a young and talented Red and Venz too.

You are bringing up 10 years ago, wrestling has changed so much from then, manning and Snyder have kept up with the times, Iowa has not. The shit you see out of brands, Warner, Assad, teske, is just bad coaching
You know what hasn’t changed in that time? Nebraskas inability to get a national champ. You’re suggesting that Manning and Snyder are keeping up with the times by coaching no champs and being pummeled by Iowa every year? That’s quite the strategy.

And the dumbest comment of the night goes to you!! Nebraska is constantly wrestling above their seeds at ncaas. Iowa constantly underachieving
Maybe, but Nebby had guys like Red and Venz get worse in their time there. Lambert and Mccrystal look so promising at times only to never get on the stand. You had a dominant Kokesh in 2015 and #1 seed go down in the quarters. Manning has had what, 3 champs? Powell, Donahue, and Burroughs? None in the last 10 years. Sorry if that history doesn’t exactly inspire hope in Robb getting over the hump.
And it’s funny you would even bring up Iowa. Iowa owns Nebraska during Mannings tenure.

How has Warner never been able to develop any offense?

Lol. Why. He's good in every position and very high wrestling iq
Keeps it too close. I don’t have a ton of faith in Mannings guys at Nattys. Seems like historically they have underachieved. Robb just has the look of someone who will go down in the quarters.

That's not a call in college anymore from my understanding (unless it was added back in). Stall is only call there now I believe.
Probably figured they wouldn’t need too because of the edge rule changes. Who could have predicted that the refs would call everything “action” and call even less stalling?

Im sorry, maybe I’m still salty about Amine beating the Bull last year, but in a world where stalling is called, Amine isn’t that good. Refs let him stand and run until the end every match.

Penalize Amine there. If that’s not fleeing, Idk what is.

I just can’t picture Robb winning a title.

DT nailed it.. I wonder who he is talking about..
How about we try to stay away from making the rules so convoluted. I hate the idea of having to explain to a noob that you score this point if you do this one thing, but also you need to do this other thing. It gets confusing.

Why does every dual at BJC just feel flat? Didn’t help that there was a ton of talent on the mat tonight and very little offense.

Amine doesn’t initiate a shot the whole match, scores on a reshot, runs the last minute. No stall calls.
