  1. I'm not sure what the consensus will be, but I would expect Brooks to defeat AJ Ferrari 7 or 8 times out of ten. If they only face two or three times, Brooks could easily sweep the series. Primarily because I think Ferrari hasn't shown enough high level offense to compete with someone like Brooks.

  2. This is the least amount of talk and hype about a Midlands that I remember. Flo came out with an article today about potential finals matchups. Doesn't seem to be as stacked as usual https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/11754226-previewing-the-59th-midlands-college-wrestling-tournament

  3. The Ferrari "idiotic" ... shirley not.

  4. You may be right. Was thinking Ferraris size will let him slow it down a bit and make it real tough for Brooks to finish on him. But Brooks is one of the best in the world, and its hard to see anyone slowing him down.

  5. Changing a MD from 8 to 10 points and the TF from 15 to 20 would most accurately reflect the same level of “dominance” with the new scoring. 10 & 20 would even be easier numbers for the casual fan to understand & remember.

  6. If you clicked on it you would read about the things that contributed to the farming crisis and unfortunately the damage was done. Things were passed to give some aid to farmers and those in the rural community and to ensure it didn't happen again. A president, by themselves can't really do much of anything with regards to the situation under discussion. To place blame on one person is a bit short sited albeit somewhat satisfying, I'll admit. Sorry you lost your farm. That must've been tough and quite a traumatic experience.

  7. Didn't know that was ever a requirement for a BIG+ subscription. I've been using the School Pass option with a gmail email address for the Big10 tournament the past two seasons.

  8. I've found the best/cheapest way to subscribe for a particular event/tournament is to choose the "School Pass" option @ $9.95/month and cancel before it auto-renews. Just make sure you choose a school competing in the event you want to watch.

  9. Yes that is the annual rate - which I find to be among the best deals in college wrestling over the last several years. I don't know if they offer a monthly rate, but worth looking into for someone who didn't want the full season

  11. Does it seem like someone is overcompensating for something? Making a confession with every allegation? Keeping in mind the judgement handed down by SCOTUS in the case of Rubber vs Glue or the epic divorce trial of Neener vs Neener!

  14. Yes. They are an abomination. Clean 32 man brackets. Give the 33 seed a "So Close" sticker and be done with him.

  15. Why are you pushing X so hard lol. I also don’t have it bc most social media is garbage for your brain. The only thing I do feel left out in is wrestling discussions.

  19. I think you'd have to go with Brooks, but...man, that'd make the weight class so much more interesting. The length and size vs Brooks could make it the only real matchup that's interesting. (That's obviously not to say that Brooks is necessarily "small," for the weight, but he's certainly not a long '97).

  20. Livestock was a big thing they wanted to save see come back during task force hearings but that was one of the big areas lost. Illinois competitive advantage just wasn't in livestock. For those who hate the big "factory" livestock operations ... maybe blame Jimmy? We had more free range before. What came back decades later was huge indoor dairy. Eventually was prob gonna happen.

  22. Illinois, prob wasn't as bad as some other states. Ag obviously eventually rebounded but like elsewhere a good percentages of farmers went bankrupt. However a lot of small towns & businesses there did not recover. Soybeans not good this year, corn and milo ok. Generally go back every years, sometimes both wheat June and beans Oct, planting wheat same time as bean harvest plus cattle so extra help needed then. It brother's op and just 2 hired men.

  23. I was kicking around on Excel and trying to think of a solution for the problem of too many subscriptions. Because of the natural limitations of fewer people that know about or care about wrestling, this solution would not be extremely profitable (and that's not really its design). It would also need software development in the initial capital outlay to design the interface with each feed, as well as ongoing support (probably absorbing any possible profit). It's designed to help streamline. But I wonder if customers could essentially get away with paying closer to $50 a month for access to all wrestling channels instead of the current 64.29 that they pay. Simplification + small savings for the customers. Each channel in the model below is accepting a lower fee from the platform for subscriptions, provided that it can guarantee 500 new users. This is completely back of envelope but just something I was thinking about when I had too much coffee

  25. My post: Ok. Why is it personal? War notwithstanding, what did Jimmy Carter do that, if you feel he is such a revolting person, you feel this way? Also, do you feel this way about what other presidents did to further their own agenda on the backs of creating conflict and stoking up mistrust? I can give you examples if you would like. Response: I did read what you wrote and composed my response. Did you read what I wrote? If you did, you would see that I did not imply your feelings about him. I asked the question so you could clarify yourself. Which you did. Thank you. I doubt that 'zero' thought was put into it. I'll be dollars to donuts that a lot of thought was put into it but was executed poorly because other countries more then made up for it by selling even more to Russia. PBS Iowa tells a bit of different story. Coupled with high gas prices and lending policy, hurt everyone. Leaving farmers who over leveraged to take the biggest hit. Also, this is your daily reminder that Reagan was a POS and would do or say anything to be and stay president. Remind you of someone?

  26. Ok . We will go slow here. Jimmy Carter the man was a good man. DID I say anything different? OK. I was very critical of President Carter and his Advisors decision to put a grain embargo on Russia. By putting a grain embargo on Russia to punish them he also punished the American farmer. They put Zero thought into how their decision might adversely affect the thousands of farmers across America. Did you actually read what I wrote? Have you ever read up on how devasting the Farm Crisis of the 80"s was? There were no policies put in place to stabilize the prices or to compensate farmers for their loses. Interests rates went sky high and money was frozen by lending institutions. So President Carter and his advisors were big contributing factors to the Farm Crisis of the 80's. Like many of the other farmers who lost their farms I also lost my farm. I don't expect you to understand. You did not experience it and It did not affect you or any one you know in any way.

  27. There are opinion segments on Fox just like there are on CNN also ABC, NBC etc. can you not tell the difference between those and the scheduled hard news segments usually at 5/6pm? I don't know what you'd call something like MSNBC.

  28. First she is from Rifle, I dont see how she represents the 4th very well, but hey RFK and HRC won NY senate race so ... The "comically" idk maybe she knows what she is talking about, Aspen is in the 3rd. My previous state (Wkn knows) and home district several elections ago was flooded with outside money to try and flip the US house seat. They managed to flip pretty much every local position except the one they were going after which was very close.

  30. I said "christians" w/ a small "c". I consider myself a Christian and believe in Christian ideals, we have another group in America that uses the term "christian" but has very little to do with what the Bible teaches. They don't "love thy neighbor", they want to see people of color suffer. So yes, small "c" christians tend to be racist.

  33. In many, most ... ok at least a lot of states it is against state high school rules to recruit athletes. As indicated above many do and its mostly the private schools. Yes they are finding their way to bend and break the rules. We all know its going on and why being in a private school isn't necessarily and indication of wealth and yes there are scholarships but that's different than recruiting and finding a way. But who knows now with NIL, if a kid has value at the college level surely his image has value at the high school level and who says he/she shouldn't be compensated, correct?

  35. It took one 40-bid allocated conference and made it two that would have earned 24 and 23 bids before at-larges last year. Contraction of conferences has been a negative for the sport. Anytime you give an all-sports conference a chance to remove sponsorship, it's not good for the existing teams. The Ivy officially running a tournament is a good thing. Equitable access to championships is logical and makes sense. Have to look at things from outside of the wrestling world. We can't be the outliers or exceptions. The problem is realignment will never fully be done and the non-revenue/Olympic sports will always be along for the ride. The Ivy is the one D1 conference that is most immune to realignment. My guess is their Presidents feel aligning with schools to access the championships should be with the schools that have the same admissions and eligibility requirements. The EIWA has a great history. It can still exist, but we need to think about it not in the traditional concept. My suggestion this past summer was to keep the EIWA tournament running it with the membership, but do it in January and make it a destination event at the Palestra, Stabler or something like that. There's a lot more details to that idea, but the last 20+ years, the conference additions have. been more due to conferences dissolving (CAA, East Region) than addition that aligned with the EIWA's tradition. I love the EIWA, but the super affiliate-laden conferences aren't necessarily a good thing. Anyway, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays wrestling fans!

  36. After watching the Schunke - Hopke match at folkstyle nationals last summer it is hard for me to envision Schunke ever beating Hopke. He must have made some big adjustments.

  37. You understand it was three points for a five second count, correct? It was changed to four points for a four second count. You are looking at it in a singular dimension, points, when the scoring involves two dimensions in points and time. Meaning before with a four swipe you would get two points, now it is four. You can't maths and it is annoying that you are stupid. I legitimately laid the math out for you, so it isn't ignorance. Happy Thanksgiving.

  38. If they were to take away the Tech they would need to implement some sort of stalling protocol so the top guy doesn't just hold someone or use the same cheap tilt 46 times in a match. Too complicated. I agree with OP: 10 & 15 make a lot of sense.

  40. FWIW, the 4 point nearfall was a bigger increase compared to the old 3 point nearfall. 2 point TD to 3 point TD = 50% increase 3 points for 5 seconds to 4 points for 4 seconds = 67% increase
