The beautiful thing about Will Lewan wrestling in a semifinal is that I know to watch the other semifinal if I want any shot at seeing something exciting.4 points

Laird is better. No surprise. At NCAAs last year, Dean lost to both Aiello and DePrez before winning the title.4 points

Watching Heinselman repeatedly drive Ungar OOB from top position. Ungar gets up to feet. Heinselman drives him OOB. Ref calling it action each time. 4 times now. RIDICULOUS!!! Fire this ref. CALL STALLING !!3 points

You realize I said better technician not better wrestler and picked Parris, right? So quit arguing over a nothing-burger by being disingenuous. Hopefully Parris can close the wide technical gap against world-renowned technician Cohlton “Scoreboard” Schultz this March. Its the upper level. Some people are better technicians, others have supreme cardio, others are significantly stronger. It’s all about who can exploit their strengths + mitigate their weaknesses + exploit their opponents. It’s almost like styles make matchups…3 points

I don't know what area of PA they're from, but there are areas of PA where everybody looks the same, for good reason. I've always tried to avoid those areas.3 points

I think that a lot of the time the student announcers or volunteer try to do too much. They dabble in trying to do color commentary when they aren't even getting the play by play right. Concentrate on getting the names right, and anything that we can't see on the screen...match time, riding time, period, match score, team score, etc. and don't be a homer. Don't try to predict match strategy or interpret referee calls if you aren't sure what's going on. You are just setting yourself up for criticism. If you as an announcer haven't been around the sport for decades, you will probably know less than 90% of the people tuning in, so just stay in your lane and keep it simple.3 points

Kharchla hit by the only move you know is coming. Romero beats Hidlay today. Hoffman is out. Orndorff is out I thought Hendrickson was a giant man? I also didn't realize he has better technique that Parris.3 points

Hopefully this means Schultz will actually wrestle matches with ranked opponents when given the opportunity--for the rest of the season, at least.3 points

What?? I'm paying $200 for this and would hope that I can view the content without having to constantly adjust to Flo's deficiencies. (I know how to change browsers) And that's without mentioning the real issue, which is absolutely dreadful technical and aesthetic production. If there was any actual competition, they'd be OOB very quickly.2 points

Arena just plain doesn't run right on many operating system/browser combinations. This is an inexcusable technical failure in 2022.2 points

"Guys, I know when Dean will lose because I, and no other wrestling fan, saw him lose in the NCAA finals a few years back, down a weight. Don't mind the loss to MSU or the 2 controversial matches at nationals last year, those are irrelevant. It's Drew Foster man, he's the key, man."2 points

They're grossly and intentionally understaffed on the technical side and they pay 30% less than the median salary for those jobs. Everything terrible follows from that. They. Don't. Care.2 points

He "only" won one state title his senior year at 195. Grew into a heavy and now looks big. Intestingly he lost to Zahid his junior year in the state finals at 182.2 points

Those are my thoughts. In the end, it's one poster who believes Hendrickson has superior technique.2 points

Appreciate an honest assessment from a non PSU fan. Most guys on this site just like to hate anything PSU and can’t say anything without the hate. 141–can’t yet figure out what to make with Beau. Definetly looks a ton stronger at this weight, but still keeping matches closer against guys I feel like he should be putting away earlier. Last night great example, but did come up big at the end. Weak weight, could come top 3 or could be rd 16 197–Dean has his style, Super tough defensively, great on top. May drop 1 or 2 more during season but come tournament time, can’t see him anywhere other than top 4. Been in final in last 2 NCAAs so not worried about him HWT—Honestly, I wish Kerk would get rid of his new leg ride. Got reversed against Cassiopi, was way to high yesterday. Gonna put himself in danger when he shouldn’t be. That being said..coaches know a helluva lot more than me2 points

That was my first time watching PSU this year, so some of my observations will be such a small snap shot, 125- Maybe can qualify- no points but seems like a kid that will be solid enough to keep things to a decision in important duals. 133- World level as expected. I have no idea why he didn't take the last score for the tech? National champ 141- Great ability to keep things close. different weight but same guy round of 12 type 149- Monster. Reminds me of a metcalf type. heavy hands and constant pressure. top 6 this year. 157- qualifier with 1 or 2 backside wins. 165- seems like another really good middleweight. 165 is so tough that I doubt he places this year, but he will be right there with a few other guys for that 6-8 place. 174- Simply a machine. I would hate to wrestle this guy. National Champ 185- Brooks is in a class of his own but this Ball kid would start most places. 197- Dean is what he is. Like Warner and most of these 197 guys he could win it all or fall early in the tournament. I thought the 2 at the end of regulation should have been awarded and when Rider challenged for the singlet pull (lung timeout) it really hurt Dean who was much fresher. Folk style really needs the one point awarded to the other guy rule on failed challenges. 285- Kerk is getting better. I hope he doesn't figure out the legs and turks because it will seperate him from everyone else. Tony won't beat this guy again short of forcing an upper body situation and going big. Too fast. National champ. These guys are who I thought they were.2 points

Wow. Zeke is relieved because now he won’t have to come up with a phony excuse when he would have had him duck Parris later on.2 points

I’m watching PSU/Rider right now and the coverage is making me wish I wasn’t. It appears to have been filmed with a potato and the audio is about a minute ahead of the video. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Flo really shit the bed in this one. The shame of it is, they put all the blame on the venue and will never just apologize. they should have been there hours early, testing everything. It’s like they showed up at 7:30 and realized they couldn’t stream2 points

BAHAHA.... is Dean the one you really want to be complaining about getting beat on a controversial call? No worries, I'm sure he will get his controversial call back at the NCAA.2 points

Byers is a home-town announcer on radio. He's not a neutral television broadcaster. Penn State puts his feed into their video and that's the easiest thing for them to do. Trying to classify him as something he's not isn't a fair view of what he is. He calls a good event and if you're listening, you know everything that's going on. If you're listening as a Penn State fan, you're really going to know what's going on. Don't go into a match he's calling expecting him to do anything other than what he's paid to do. "That guy sucks at the guitar" "Well, that's because he's playing the cello"2 points

I think Hendrickson, who has height and weight but not necessarily top-end strength, has significantly better technique but Parris is a mountain.1 point

I only saw the last period and a half, but Schultz looked lethargic, spent, and far, far from a number 1 ranked wrestler. Kudos to Nevills for getting after it. Schultz should never again be ranked #1 after that performance regardless of what happens to guys in the Big Ten, who deserve to be top three: Kerk, Parris, and Cassiopi.1 point

Day one thoughts: DeAugostino looked like he may have pulled his groin. Depending on severity he could be out a couple months and that stinks if so. Vito looks very good but not world beater surprisingly. I honestly thought he would have racked up over 40 points on day one. Mattin going down was an upset but… not super surprising? Kharchla wtf? Keck doing Keck things. The bag of magic Pinto beans ends tomorrow morning. Excited for the finals tomorrow and hopefully Hidlay is more engaged than last March. Hoffman and Sloan doing Hoffman and Sloan tournament things. I thought Norfleet was going to win this weekend but 197 blew up. I can’t believe Schultz lost. I sent Nevills a thank-you basket to his hotel room that would make Derek Jeter jealous. Schultz and Orndorff deserve to meet each other in the backside and the winner can be the new Greco coach. I’m very excited? intrigued? for Hendrickson vs Parris. Hendrickson has such better technique but he’s going to get horsed around the mat methinks.1 point

Romero Hendrickson okay we tied on matches we disagreed upon and we also need to each do fifty clappers on behalf of Tanner Jordan, Clay Carlson, Lenny Pinto, Andy Smith, and AJ Nevills, all who we both underestimated. checking on pins now!1 point

Never have bet... never will bet. How does my not being a betting person change the result of tonights match where Laird was the better wrestler? It has nothing to do with my mouth... probably more to do with Deans legs and Laird's arms. actually your twisting words now.... It was said Laird was the better wrestler....you disagreed... I said he proved it.... and he did. If Dean beats him later then you can claim they are 1-1 against each other. Until then, Laird owns the head to head.1 point

To be fair, I think there's a mutual respect among US and Iranian soccer players too, just as there is among wrestlers. We saw that before, during and after the game this week. I've always been impressed with Iranian athletes' sportsmanship, and US athletes have generally reciprocated it. If there's a difference, it is in the sports' governing bodies. Can you imagine USA Wrestling sending out a tweet that desecrates the Iranian flag, as did US Soccer? Not in a million years. I'm all for human rights and all, and I'd love to see Iranian women have more freedoms, but what the US Soccer Federation did was beyond disrespectful. USA Wrestling, to its credit, has NEVER mixed politics and sports that I can recall. I guess there was a little dust-up last year about some Iranian staff members being denied their visas and then refusing to send their team to a dual in the US, but I think the Iranians understood that was the Department of State, not USA Wrestling.1 point
