Position Announcement: Assistant Wrestling Coach Northeastern Junior College is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Assistant Wrestling Coach. This position will be responsible for assisting the Head Wrestling Coach with the day-to-day functions of the Wrestling team. Duties may also include recruiting, developing practice plans, coordinating travel, scheduling and other assignments as prepared by the head coach and/or athletic director. Candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills, work well with others in a team setting, and possess knowledge and experience coaching Wrestling.

1. Assist the head coaches with all practices & game sessions to include:
1. Teach proper basic skills to student-athletes for their successful participation in the sport.
2. Develop current skill level and knowledge base of student-athletes to perform at a collegiate level.
3. Demonstrate game strategies to student-athletes.
2. Responsible for team building with the student-athletes in the respective sport.
3. Instruct student-athletes in proper weight training techniques for their particular sport.
4. Instruct proper safety techniques to the student-athlete and oversee the game and practice facilities are safe and set up properly.
5. Create & review with the student-athlete’s academic schedules with the guidance of the head coach and academic advisor.
6. Supervise, plan and organize study hall for student-athletes.
7. With the assistance of the head coach, plan, organize and teach team and individual camps.
8. Abide by all policies as outlined in the Northeastern Coaches Operating Handbook.
9. Abide by all rules as outlined in the NJCAA Handbook.
10. Assist in providing proper guidance regarding class attendance and student code of conduct with student/athletes under your direction.

Other duties as assigned include:

1. Report all game results immediately following competition to AD & Asst AD.
2. Report all game stats to the NJC website, which then will automatically report to the region and national websites. (results posted within 1 hr/ stats within 24 hrs)
3. Assist with the recruitment and recommendation of student-athletes to the respective team.
4. Assist with the physical arrangements for all home events as needed.
5. Assist the head coach with game management of assigned sport as needed.
6. Serve as the head coach for the sport program should the Head Coach be unavailable. This will be at the direction of the Athletic Director.
7. Campus committee work as assigned by the Director of Athletics, Event Center to include possible chair committees as needed. Share committee information with the group as needed.
8. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Athletic Director.
9. Secure Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and be fully trained to drive all needed vehicles. Serve as the driver of college vehicles needed for all travel to and from games and as needed for other events. Report any problems with vehicles to the Athletic Director. Do all pre and post trip checks in conjunction with driving the bus under CDL proper procedure.
10. Assist with High School and Region IX Tournaments as requested by the Athletic Director.
11. Assist with all fundraising responsibilities for the sport and for general fundraising.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• Ability to obtain a commercial driver's license within 6 months
• 3+ years of coaching wrestling OR collegiate wrestling playing experience
• Excellent Interpersonal Skills
• Willingness to travel regionally and throughout Colorado at all times of the year
• Experience with Microsoft Office
Contract specifics:
This is a full-time professional appointment. Salary range $25,656 - $27,000 commensurate with education and experience. Competitive fringe benefit package available through the SBCCOE.
