Summary of the morning:

Kilty & Welker win their way back into bronze matches later today, joining Maroulis, who wrestles for gold.

Taylor eliminated

Nwachukwu, Glaude, Blades all fall in the quarters and hope for the best in the semis from the girls that beat them.

Everybody attention will focus on today's semis action (can you say "repechage?" I bet you can.)

Disappointed at the tournament the women had for sure. But they are super young

I think the overall result is disappointing but most of the women didn't underperform

Jimenez - I'm disappointed
Taylor - didn't have high expectations
Rodriguez - didn't have high expectations
Helen - Legend; no notes
Winchester - disappointed but also kinda expected it
Nwachukwu - thought represented well
Kilty - will match expectations if secures bronze later today
Blades - disappointing but was a little worried about the weight cut
Glaude - thought represented well
Welker - minor disappointment but will be content w/ bronze later today

I don't know the story behind Blades moving from 76 down to 68. Why did she move down? I've thought her results at 68 have given warning signs that she's not as good there before this. She looks so powerful and so athletic at 76. Anybody know the story?

My best speculation is just trying to make the best possible USA lineup; Blades/Elor/Welker is on paper a salty lineup. . .

But Blades looks like the cut is affecting her more than desired, and Elor is obviously pregnant so out for a little and I would guess that this plan was in place before the pregnancy happened (otherwise Blades probably would be at 72).

I researched a little myself. She's commented that she's wrestling 160 in college and usually weighed in at 158 to 163 for 76kg (167lbs). She thought 68kg (150lbs) might actually be a more "natural" wrestling weight. But she's wanted to try it out before making a final decision about which Olympic weight to choose going forward.

WOW!!! Another classic moment in Helen Maroulis' career. She gets the takedown with 3 seconds left to secure the gold medal, 3-2!!

What an amazing, clutch win by Helen.

Watching it, you just knew she was going to pull something out of her bag of tricks.

US women's GOAT.

4 World/Oly Gold
2 World/Oly Silver
4 World/Oly Bronze

Pending on how she finishes out this quad she could very well just be the US Goat

Isn't it 5 Gold for her now. 1 Olympic and 4 World? Total of 11 medals.
