2021-22 NCAA DI Preseason Rankings Disclaimers

InterMat's 2021-22 preseason rankings have been released! They can be found here !

Since it is early September, these are very fluid. Many schools are trying to figure out weights, so we will likely see some shuffling between now and November.

After doing extensive homework for the rankings, we have included wrestlers we expect to see compete during the 2021-22 campaign.

Freshmen from the Class of 2021 have not been included. They will be added as they compete and if they warrant inclusion.

Freshmen from the Class of 2020 that did not enroll in school last year have not been included. They will be added as they compete and if they warrant inclusion.

Most of the time, preseason rankings focus only on results that occurred during the previous season. This time we have given some additional weight to results before the 2021 season. The reasoning behind this decision is that Ivy League schools did not compete at all and some conferences were limited as to where they could compete.

There are some notable wrestlers in the transfer portal. They have not been included. Once they make their transfer intentions known, they may be added.

Dual Meet and Tournament rankings only factor in wrestlers considered for the rankings. Teams with true freshmen projected to start may appear lower than their actual levels initially.

Due to the "free year" eligibility-wise in 2021, there are very few notable wrestlers that competed last year and are not back for this season. Therefore every weight class could be considered "stacked". This should benefit the fans with some incredible matchups. But, keep that in mind when looking at the rankings!

Have fun!

Once again PSU disrespected. Do you really think if they wrestled Missouri and Oak St. they would lose. REALLY. Wait till they roll out some more freshman this year! Iowa better wrestle up to their ranking because they didn't at the NCAAs.

Once again???

I believe the freshmen PSU will send out will be really, really good. Probably puts them above Mizz/OkSt. Right now, they aren't factored in, though.

Once again, the Penn State bandwagon of fools pulls up, too bad toxic “fans” like you have to exist. They clearly explain the how the rankings are determined. I’ve never seen any other fans being as salty about Iowa winning the title as much as this year, you and the dbestsport are some of the worst people on this site. Penn State wrestling is fun to watch but the fans are as bad as the OU for football fans.

Please don't cry. Go tell her you Mommy you are offended. I'm sure she will coddle you.
There are plenty of toxic fans to go around, so to point out one group is pretty stupid.

You’re pathetic, and easy to bait. As usual, You came running like a bitch for its bowl of food.
dbestsport (1) about 2 weeks ago
I called you out for the whiner that you are.
As far as bait goes, I could say the same about you.

I'm a die hard PSU fan. What disrespect are you speaking of? They didn't put in coming freshman but even if they did, Steen and Facundo need to "earn" their rankings. Who do you feel is ranked lower than they should be? I believe Bartlett will make some noise but based on last years results I can see why Earl didn't rank him

is eierman actually going to be collecting social security while he's still wrestling varsity for iowa... give it a break and move on... you're competing against children... and that's child abuse... doesn't matter - lee will still b-slap you again... did you see his sour puss at the end of that finals bout... oriceless...

*WARNING: Dangerous words about to ensue. proteck the kids from this danger NOW!*

GREAT thinking, dave012454! So, ah, was it, therefore, elder abuse when Lee beat the Joker last year?

Email Willie to tattle...NOW!

I finally looked over the rankings, and, is it just me, or does it seem like a 6,007 of those rasslers were seniors last year and are still somehow back?

Not sure, but I'm assuming it's because of the free year granted?

Penn State & respect? It will take more than hiring the best wrestling coach & having the best wrestling team to erase the memory of Jerry Sandusky.
dbestsport (1) about 2 weeks ago
Another idiot heard from.
How about Larry Nassar at Michigan State? Too bad the NCAA didn't go after them like they did Penn State.
And of course there is Richard Strauss at Ohio State. 177 students alleged abuse as early as 1979.
The only difference in these schools is the NCAA didn't use them as example of how much power they have.
My advice to you is you get your information straight and you get a life.
