World champion David Taylor will meet Senior Nationals champion Gabe Dean, it was announced Thursday.

The match is slated for Nov. 24 at the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club's event, which will be streamed on Rokfin.

Taylor claimed a world championship in 2018 at 86 kilograms, beating Fatih Erdin of Turkey in the finals, 12-2. Earlier in the tournament, he scored a victory over 2016 Olympic champion Hassan Yazdani Charati of Iran. Taylor missed the 2019 World Championships due to injury. In July, Taylor defeated Myles Martin by 11-0 technical superiority at FloWrestling's event.

Dean, a two-time NCAA champion for Cornell, won a Senior Nationals title last month at 86 kilograms after not competing since 2017. He topped Nate Jackson in the finals. Last weekend, Dean competed in Flo's 8-Man Challenge and was defeated in his first match by Taylor Lujan.

It should be pointed out Dean teched Lujan at senior nationals 10-0 and was up 8-0 against Lujan at Flo's event when Lujan stepped over his gut attempt and pinned him.

Not really pertinent to a Dean/Taylor, or as PSU fans call him, "DT," match, but Lujan won a lot of matches by a funky pin, after being down on points prior to the pin.

Funkmaster Flex has his number!

And, I'd add that National Champion, Drew Foster, shelled Taylor, or as PSU fans call him, "DT," a while back.

National Champion Drew Foster has Taylor's, or as PSU fans call him, "DT," number!

Can't get one by us UNI Panthers, folks!

The magic man as we PSU fans know him would totally destroy Lujan or Foster today.

Well, he's never rassled Funkmaster Flex, so get out the crystal ball on that one!

Regarding Foster, Taylor, or as PSU fans call him, "JT," is 0-1, so back to the drawing board there!

Ban basketball I have a ton of respect for the UNI program, and Drew Foster is a great wrestler and an overachiever. However, he definitely didn’t “shell” David Taylor. If there was no injury, that would have ended in Taylor winning by technical superiority, and you know that.

Good to hear, but we really needed the respeck several years ago, when there was just a faithful 100 of us in the bleachers.

All well and good with your surmising, but the fact remains that only one hand was raised after their match, and that was the hand of national champion, Drew Foster.
