InterMat Classic Info

What: The InterMat Classic is a preseason high school wrestling tournament.

Event Date & Location: The 2018 InterMat Classic will take place on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Edina High School in Edina, Minnesota.

Who is Eligible: Wrestlers in grades 7 through 12 are eligible to compete. There is only a high school division.

Style: Folkstyle (scholastic style) rules will be used. Championship bracket matches will be 2-2-2 in length, while consolation matches will be 2-1-1 in length.

Entry Fee: The registration fee is $40 if registered in September and $50 if registered in October.

Weigh-Ins Date, Time, and Location: Weigh-ins will take place on Friday, Oct. 19, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. There are two weigh-in locations in Minnesota (Edina and Rochester), as well as one in South Dakota (Beresford).

  • Wrestlers can weigh in at any of the three weigh-in locations.

  • There is a three-pound allowance (100 is 103, 106 is 109, 113 is 116, etc.).

  • Wrestlers may change weight classes after registering by sending an email to Wrestlers will be moved up a weight class if they do not make the weight listed on their weigh-in slip.

    Admission: Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for students (18 and under), and free for children under 6.

    Coaches: A coaches/floor wristband may be purchased at the door for $15. No other coaching credential is required.

    Cause: The InterMat Classic was created in honor of Justin Kukowski, an avid athlete and sports fan who passed away from brain cancer in 2007. The proceeds from the event will go to the Justin Kukowski Foundation.

    Officials: Certified officials will be used. Rod Frost will serve as the head official for the ninth consecutive year. Any questions relating to rules and equipment can be sent to Rod at

    Seeding: Wrestlers will be seeded by the InterMat Classic seeding committee based on state, regional, and national accomplishments, as well as past InterMat Classic placement. When registering, there is an option to include accomplishments for seeding purposes.
