Position: Assistant Wrestling Coach

General Information: The University of Virginia, a Division I –A member of the NCAA and the Atlantic Coast Conference, is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Wrestling Coach. The University, located in Charlottesville, Virginia is a selective public institution known for its teaching, research and public service. The University of Virginia sponsors a twenty-five sport intercollegiate athletics program, which includes approximately 650 student-athletes.

Responsibilities: The Assistant Wrestling Coach will be responsible for assisting in the administration, coaching and recruiting of a Division I program in compliance with NCAA and ACC rules and regulations; assisting the head coach in all facets of the program including team travel, ordering of equipment, meet preparation and management, mailings, team functions, fundraising, and other related assignments; performing hands-on wrestling with student-athletes; assisting in the monitoring of academic performance and the overall well-being of the student-athletes; and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Master’s: Bachelor’s degree with significant experience in lieu of Master’s degree will be considered. Demonstrated experience and success at the intercollegiate level, preferably Division I, is desired. Experience working with elite level wrestlers preferred. A demonstrated ability to recruit Division I level student-athletes is preferred. Outstanding personal achievement in the sport of Wrestling as a competitor and/or coach is preferred. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills, including a working knowledge of computers and basic software programs required. Requires the ability to effectively communicate and work with current and prospective student-athletes, administrators, faculty, staff and alumni/friends of the University. This posting is for the second assistant coach position. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
