Graduate Assistant - Wrestling
Doane University, a member of NAIA and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), seeks applicants for the position of Graduate Assistant Wrestling Coach for the 2018-2019 academic year. The Department of Athletics seeks experienced candidates to assist the head wrestling coach in all aspects of operating a successful program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: recruiting, fundraising, supervising study hall sessions, practice plan development, individual and small group instruction, video analysis, large group instruction and individual meetings with both the head coach and individual student-athletes. The graduate assistant coach will be expected to attend practices and meets, travel with the team for away-competitions, and assist in areas of travel planning and program organization as assigned. Recruiting duties may include but are not limited to: scouting and evaluation, planning and executing campus visits, phone calls, emails, mailings and managing the recruiting database (Front Rush).
Requirements: Candidates should have competitive wrestling and/or coaching experience at the college level or equivalent. Candidates must be able to work effectively in a diverse work environment, be attentive to details, have the ability to lead and work independently as well as within a team environment, maintain confidentiality, show initiative, handle frequent interruptions and manage projects while keeping an organized workflow. Bachelor's degree required. At least three years wrestling/coaching experience required, collegiate experience preferred. Effective communication skills required: speaking, writing, and listening. Ability to communicate effectively, counsel and advise prospective students and parents/guardians on the numerous aspects of choosing a college. Basic computer and internet capabilities required, experience with and/or ability to learn video editing and recruiting software strongly preferred. Position will begin in July/August 2018; ability to work with flexible hours as well as nights and weekend work required.
Compensation: Graduate assistant will receive tuition waivers up to $5,250 per calendar year and a stipend.
