2017 Camp Counselors

World Wrestling Camps was organized by Dennis Hall and Jon McGovern over 15 years ago. We believe in a lot of one one instruction, 360 development, mental toughness, leadership training, strength analysis, and open optional FCA Bible study during our camp sessions. As a camp counselor you will be responsible for mentoring high school-aged (13-18 years old) wrestlers with various different mental, social, spiritual & physical skill levels. You will be challenged to get the most effort out of each and every wrestler. Our goal is to provide a safe environment to help each wrestler reach their potential.

Application Requirements

Multiple wrestling staff leaders and counselors will be needed and hired. All applicants will be considered for the positions of Group Leader, Assistant Group Leader. Your position will be determined by the Dennis Hall and Jon McGovern based upon your experiences as outlined in your application. These positions are ideal for current recent college wrestling graduates, or former collegiate wrestlers looking for reliable summer work. Please note that any job offers are conditional and contingent upon successful clearance of all background checks and other pre-employment requirements. The requirements are as follows:

• Extensive knowledge of wrestling technique and training
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Proven history of responsibility, strong work ethic, and positive attitude
• Works well with a variety of people (campers, athletic trainers, camp staff, coaches, nurses, hospital staff, etc.) and displays team-player attitude
• Genuine enjoyment of teaching and working with aspiring young wrestlers

Job Responsibilities

Job responsibilities are, but not limited to, the following:
• Teaching wrestling techniques, skills, and positions
• Leading running, weight lifting, and wrestling sessions as assigned
o Active participation in each assigned session is required
• Recording camper points and attendance
• Camp check-in and check-out duties
• Taking roll call
• Assisting with managing the camp store
• Assisting group leaders and camp directors when asked
• Bed checks and wake-ups
• Communicating with Dennis Hall and Jon McGovern, staff, parents, athletic trainers and on-site personnel
• Supervision of campers during non-session hours and recreation sessions
• Enforcing camp rules during and between sessions
• All other duties as assigned by camp directors and group leaders

Housing/Meals/Pay

This camp counselor positions cover your hotel/housing, meals, camp t-shirt, program, and a stipend.
