NORMAN (Oct. 27) -- Heath Jolley's technical fall capped a four-match streak that carried the Bronze to a 23-16 victory over the Blue here Thursday night at the OU Fieldhouse in the first of two Central Oklahoma intrasquad duals.
The Blue got a 13-3 major decision from two-time junior college national champion transfer Earl Jones in winning the first four matches to jump out to a 13-0 lead, but the Bronze won seven of the last eight bouts to rally.
UCO will have another Bronze-Blue intrasquad showdown next Thursday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. at Hamilton Field House.
"I saw good things from some individuals and it was a good outing for us," UCO coach David James said. "Some of our new guys really stepped up and wrestled well and a few of our veterans looked pretty good as well."
Jolley, looking to take over a starting role at 197 pounds this season after sitting out the past two years while playing juco football, had three takedowns and three near-falls in his lopsided 18-3 rout that pushed an 18-16 Bronze lead to the final margin.
All-American Jared Henning and Jones both won at 133 pounds in staking the Blue to its early advantage, but former national placer Jerod Goodwin and returning All-American Cort Petersen both won to key the Bronze comeback.
