Campbell tops Franklin & Marshall

RICHMOND, VA. - Bonus points from Noah Gonser, Josh Heil, Austin Murphy and Andrew Morgan powered Campbell over Franklin & Marshall 29-12 at the Rumble on the River, hosted by St. Christopher's School in Richmond, Va. Saturday.

The Camels jumped out to an 8-0 lead after Korbin Meink's 5-1 decision at 125 to lead off the match, followed by No. 16 Noah Gonser's 21-6 tech fall over Michael Simonetti.

Patrick Quinlan put F&M on the board, pinning Josh Scott to bring the score to 8-6, but Campbell claimed five of the next six bouts to command a 29-9 advantage and seal the team win.

No. 8 Josh Heil (149 pounds) claimed a 16-4 major decision, while Austin Murphy (165) tallied a 16-1 tech fall and No. 18 Andrew Morgan (174) posted another pin. Chris Kober (184) and Austin McNeill (197) both notched decisions to extend the Campbell lead.

Campbell moved to 2-0 in dual competition, while the Diplomats took their first loss of the season, falling to 1-1.

Next up, the Camels will jump into Southern Conference action on Sunday, January 20 at reigning conference champion Appalachian State. Campbell will take on The Citadel on February 3 before returning to Buies Creek on February 5, hosting Gardner-Webb.
