TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona State University wrestling head coach Shawn Charles has resigned his duties, effective immediately, athletics director Ray Anderson announced on Wednesday.

"We thank Coach Charles for the contributions he has given to his alma mater during his tenure," Anderson said. "We will launch a national search immediately for his successor. Our wrestling program has enjoyed success as one of the premier programs in the country and we are intent on regaining that status going forward."

I wonder, did he resign or was he forced out? I think that Coach Charles was on the right path. In my opinion, many of his wrestlers quit on the mat or did not give their best efforts. I would like to see more Division I recruits not maybe Division I. A wrestler commits completely or stay home with their parents.

Considering how many of his recruits have left his program since he arrived there (LOTS OF THEM) it's no surprise to me at all he was asked to resign. Heck I think they lost half a dozen recruits just since last fall.
